I didn't agree with resigning Vladdy and Bo at first but the more I think about it the more it makes sense. Of course there is the issue of whether they want to stay here as well.

When was the last time the Jays signed a manager with a successful MLB past? Jim Fregosi? And I wouldn't call his previous record successful except for the 93 Phillies.
A successful managerial past is not always required. Bobby Cox was mediocre in his first go-round with the Braves. 266-323, before the Jays.
Cito Gaston had no experience as a manager.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think that the type of manager you're talking about is very often on the market. Teams keep them until they're past there best before date.

he's come up with a new gimmick. When he gets to the plate, he doodles something in the dirt with the knob of his bat. Just fucking play baseball man....holy fuck.
I don't think that's new. I think he's been doing that since before the home run trot thing.

(Turner, Kiermaier, Jansen, Garcia); none of those guys would get a qualifying offer.
Jansen is probably their best hitter this year, is a team leader and excellent behind the plate. Getting rid of Jansen would be one of the worst possible moves the Jays could possibly make.

At least the hr jacket is back.
I wasn't initially a fan of it because of the jokester attitude of the team at that time.

But it sure seemed to lift the team spirits big time last night. They've been so moribund, if this makes them happy, I'm all for it.

I expect attendance to drop when the novelty of the stadium improvements wears off, and reality replaces hope.
I had tickets to the Yankees series, and I gave them away. This team is so boring. The best thing about this team, and the most exciting thing about this team, is watching Manoah trying to find himself and recapture his form.

I can't stand the god damn HR jacket, luckily for me they don't pop have to pull it out that much. It probably gets dust on it sometimes with this team.
Guerrero has been the biggest advocate to bring back the jacket. If this somehow miraculously has him hitting home runs, I’m OK with that.

….hey look on the bright side, if this team wins its next 10 games in a row things all of a sudden might look very different. But regardless Ross Atkins is a loser and he needs to go immediately.

Jansen is a free agent at the end of this year. He's not good enough to get a qualifying offer. Keeping him for the whole year would be one of the worst possible moves the Jays could possibly make. Nothing would prevent the Jays from trying to resign him in the off season, if he wants to come back. He might even appreciate being able to play in games that actually matter in the last third of the season.

I don't where this idea comes from that they only care about money. There's no upside to the Blue Jays losing.
You don't get the idea that Rogers only cares about making money??????? Who knew you were new....

Yes, there is no upside to the Jays losing. There's also no financial upside in paying an extra $50 million to try to turn a fourth place team into a third place team, when that won't translate into additional ticket sales. In team sports, it's better to finish last than just out of the money, unless you are marketing hope instead of reality.

The casual fan who knows dick about baseball will overpay to see a team which might win a game on any given night. That same fan is going to find other things to do when winning the game today is essentially meaningless.

Cable TV is a dying business. Everything Rogers sells is overpriced and substandard in quality, and that applies to their sports teams.

Nice job taking my quote out of context. You missed the emphasis on the "ONLY" part though. What I basically said was it's possible to try and generate revenue and win a championship at the same time.

Once again you've got this idiotic belief they're not "trying" vs what they are or aren't accomplishing.

Your 50 million example is absolutely laughable. A 100 million dollar player development complex, and top 10 in payroll the last 3 seasons only being a few million below the Dodgers, (one of your teams that are "trying to win a championship" )

It's completely evident you have no idea what your talking about, so I'll oblige your request to move on.

Had you have said something to the effect of "Shapiro and Atkins are morons that don't know what they are doing" you would have had at least some legs to stand on, but even that isn't totally accurate as every GM needs some luck to go there way. They made some good moves, and some bad ones. Turns out they made more bad ones then good ones.

You've crossed the line. One of your moms should have taught you some manners. I'm adding you to my Ignore list, permanently, effective immediately.

onomatopoeia put me on his "ignore list" and not just temporarily, permanently! lol

How am I going to get over this???

Was just trying to get the guy to realize how ridiculous the notion that the team isn't trying to win a championship is. The funny part is, EVERY OWNER in MLB is trying to make money one way or the other. That's why they never open the books and we keep having spats between the owners and the players union when it comes to the CBA.

Marge Schott was the best owner I ever knew of. She ran the Cincinnati Reds with an iron fist…lol. No wonder Rob Dibble had mental issues.

I hate the jacket personally...But I'm a traditionalist and love my old school baseball.

I don't like the forearm bashes and hand slapping my Yankees do with Judge and crew when they go yard either. I feel as if it's rubbing it into the other team.

Mickey Mantle said he used to to put his head down and make it around the bases as fast as he could. He knew the pitcher felt bad and didn't to make him feel worse. Today everything is in your face.

I had to look up Rob Dibble. I've never heard of him before.....LMAO
I think I’ve talked about this here before, I remember watching the NLCS on NBC or CBS in 1990, and the network just activated their new toy which was the radar gun on screen, and Rob Dibble was getting gunned at 102 mph. By today’s standards it doesn’t seem so unbelievably remarkable…. But this was at a time where most pitchers were getting clocked at 90 mph. remember at this time the word was anything above 90 mph was considered a very good above average fastball. I also believe the early 90s was a time where pitch speed was still being clocked crossing the plate. I remember I read once that from the time the ball leaves the hand, to when it crosses the plate, it loses between 5 to 8 mph. so that could’ve been anywhere from 107 to 110 mph today. All I remember is the catcher being in excruciating pain. I remember the catcher removing the catchers glove and literally shaking his hand between pitches. I’ve also seen many documentaries and interviews from players in that era that say Rob Dibble through the hardest they’ve ever seen. This includes guys like Bobby Bonilla and even Paul O’Neal who played for the Reds at this time.
