Add to that the fans love a high powered offence more than efficient defence. Give them a 10-8 victory over a 2-1 loss anyday.
Personally, I would much much rather see them sell off some assets like Romano, Springer, Biggio, Swanson, Clement, Bassit, or even like a Justin Turner… focus on retooling for next year instead of rebuilding. Sign both Guerrero and Bichette to bridge extensions. After the way Ross Atkins has been messing with the fans and media, I really don’t trust him to make anymore moves pertaining to this team. If he’s allowed to make these decisions I will be really pissed off. A GM is allowed 1 rebuild/retool…..not 2!

Any relation to “Black Booty Lover?” I am with you on this one. This team had every opportunity to maintain an offensively powerful lineup. But because Ross Atkins tried to sell us on this whole defence run prevention theory, we lost out on some great run producing talent. Marcus Semien, Teo… etc. etc. Vladimir was seeing tons of pitches that he could do damage on. Not making the playoffs in 2021, but man oh man they should’ve kept that powerful lineup together.

It probably doesn’t mean anything at this point, but the Blue Jays brought back the home run jacket….. now if the Blue Jays can find a way to trade Eric Swanson and George Springer to the Dodgers in exchange for Teoscar, we’ve got a chance in 2024. 🙃

jacket is a joke. team is a farce and comedy channel, schneider is a pussy he said he took it away and allowed fatass vladdy to bring it back.

At this point they might as well have hazel mae do interviews in a bikni on field if they want more excitement

No, I've had enough of this discussion. Check this conversation after the trading deadline, this time next year, and two years from now. We'll see if you're still laughing at me.

From a competitive point of view, the best decision for the Jays would be to move Gausman, Bassitt and Guerrero THIS year. They should also try to get something for Turner, and try to find a team which will take Springer, but I suspect they won't be able to do that, unless they eat a big chunk of his remaining guaranteed bucks.

I don't expect them to do that. I expect them to try to be marginally above .500 this year, and they'll likely win around 75 games per year for at least three seasons after that. I think they'll try to keep Bichette, but he'll walk after next season.

Rogers is more interested in generating revenue than in committing to winning at any cost. As long as people like you believe in miracles, they're meeting their goal. Would you be a fan of THIS team, as currently constructed, if they were the Washington Nationals?

I expect attendance to drop when the novelty of the stadium improvements wears off, and reality replaces hope.

rogers only cares about making money
they are opening 3 fine dining restaurants in the basement/100 level to be similar ala Scotiabank Arena, They're catering more towards the bay street/corporate/high roller crowd. They dont care about world series titles, they want the motion, the bay street money and to maximize revenue at the stadium.

--I understand and share your frustration, but you've been around long enough to know that selling assets at their low point doesn't bring much in return. Especially when your player personnel/ scouting department isn't good enough to find diamonds in the rough. Add to this the fact they'll have to eat a lot of salary on those contracts being traded. Also, no guarantee the guys you get back will be any better.
--I don't have a high level of trust in Atkins/ Shapiro either, although I will give them some credit for the pitching staff they built.
--Completely agree about resigning Vladdy and Bo, especially now that their value is lower than it has been in the past few years. If they're going sign them, sign them now.
--I feel the Jays best bet is to do what the Leafs recently did. Hire a coach(manager) with a successful past. Neither of the Jays past 2 managers had major league experience as a manager at the major league level. Instead of trying to change half the roster which will be difficult, hire a manager who has been there before.

I can't stand the god damn HR jacket, luckily for me they don't have to pull it out that much. It probably gets dust on it sometimes with this team.

They hit on most of the pitchers, but missed on most positional players.

Hiring a new manager isn't going to do shit. A new manager is going make guys hit a ball better. There's only one fix here, and that is they need to somehow get offence.

I didn't agree with resigning Vladdy and Bo at first but the more I think about it the more it makes sense. Of course there is the issue of whether they want to stay here as well.

When was the last time the Jays signed a manager with a successful MLB past? Jim Fregosi? And I wouldn't call his previous record successful except for the 93 Phillies.

I would do anything to get rid of Vlad. Drives me crazy. The stupidity that goes on this guy is on another level. The amount of idiotic things he does rounding the bases when he hits a HR so cringe worthy I can barely stand watching it. Because he's only hit 4 HR's and can't get attention that way, he's come up with a new gimmick. When he gets to the plate, he doodles something in the dirt with the knob of his bat. Just fucking play baseball man....holy fuck.

That's not true. Opening a few restaurants doesn't mean you only care about making money, and besides, it is a business so they are entitled to try and generate revenue. Putting a winning team on the field translates into money so it's very easy to see why they care about both. I don't where this idea comes from that they only care about money. There's no upside to the Blue Jays losing.

No, I've had enough of this discussion.
That's because every time I ask you to give me a logical explanation as to what those teams are doing to TRY to win a championship and what the Jays aren't doing to TRY, you can't come up with one. I would back peddle and quite the convo too if I couldn't back up what I was saying.

Now your telling me to check this thread at the trade deadline when we both know the Jays are more then likely going to be sellers because the moves they made haven't panned out. If they have no realistic shot of winning, why would they be buyers at the trade deadline?

I don't expect them to be sellers at the deadline. That's what they SHOULD do, if they want to have a chance to contend anytime soon. Maybe they'll move some of the expiring contracts, (Turner, Kiermaier, Jansen, Garcia); none of those guys would get a qualifying offer.

I'm also not really interested in debating with you. You come across as condescending. You ought to be here more than two and a half weeks before you behave like that.

A tale of 2 baseball games. I went to the Jays game on Tuesday and should have taken a nap instead. They are selling out outfield seats for parties, and people just wanting to get on the jumbotron and down hot dogs. Very few are really baseball fans. Was good in a way to hear booing after the game..should have been more. On Wednesday, I went to Christie Pits to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs baseball team. Free. Highly skilled semi pro but with lots of mistakes. Entertaining and a come from behind win. No childish ice buckets. Next game Sunday at 2.

haha! Okay.

Pretty funny that you think I've only been here for two and half weeks. Maybe Philip can help you here, but I know the real reason your not interested in the debate anymore. It's hit you that you can't prove or quantify what a silly statement is was to make that the Jays "aren't trying to win a championship". To make it even more ridiculous, you then list all teams that are having a good year as the ones "trying". Well aren't you lucky. Last year I really thought the Rangers were "trying to win a championship". It's fun being the Monday morning quarterback.

Anyway, not sure why your so interested in a team this isn't trying to win a championship but I'll be interested to see what other kind acute observations you make.
