Many of those seats behind home plate emptied during the game. Where did they go? To find better seats? And the gray haired lady looked miserable sitting in the third row. But last night was the jays at their best......my skepticism remains......watch for empty seats and empty bats in the near future.

The seats have always emptied as you get into the 7th inning, especially during the week as people want to avoid the mad rush at the end of the game and traffic nightmare getting out of the city. On weekends, people tend to stick around a little longer.

I went to one game last year to check out the 500 level and it looked good. Have avoided the first level for years due to seating. If I get freebies I may check it out this year.

I have to give Rogers/Bell credit for at least trying to improve the fan experience by trying to make the stadium a more enjoyable for them.

Give them credit??? We're probably the only team in baseball with this kind of market that has penny pinched to profit as much as they can over the last 20 years. Putting some money into a decrepit stadium should hardly warrant any credit.

And if I keep seeing the Blue Jay team that I saw last night…… That know how to cash in runs and win, I am right back to my 1992 vibes again! I still think there are too many scars on the résumé of the manager to take him seriously anymore…. Who knows where that will go.

Rogers as team owner has an incentive to field a team which can make the post season, because it means home game attendees and the TV audience will still be interested in baseball at the end of the season.

Rogers doesn't have much incentive to field a championship calibre squad because they only have simulcast TV rights for the post season. The difference in cost between a playoff contender and a championship contender is less than the additional revenue generated. To win championships in the modern era, you need to have ownership which cares more about winning than return on investment. This is one of the reasons why the Baltimore Orioles look very formidable for the next several years - in addition to all the blue chip young, inexpensive and controllable talent they have in both the Majors and the minors, the new ownership group is headed by one of the richest men on the planet.

They are in the top ten on player salaries and have owners that are investing millions into a stadium that needed upgrades. That is a huge win for fans. Their only failing has been at the GM level (and at least the owners have not stuck their noses into that pot).

If they were penny pinching we would be in the bottom tier of team salaries and have the same shitty old stadium.

No, that's a huge win for Rogers. Shatkins has convinced them by doing this, they will sell tickets and make money. Lets not pretend they are doing this because they have heart felt sympathy for the fans and want them to have a good experience. Those reno's that your giving them "credit" for, are coming out of your pocket with how much they've raised ticket prices over the last few years.

Throwing Lourdes in the Varsho trade was complete overkill
Jethro Bodine had to do it, he was getting the next Barry Bonds. Cavan and Bo turned a gorgeous double play to set the tone of the game last night. Bo had his best game so far in 2024.

Of course they are in it to make money otherwise they would not have invested in the franchise. We have seen what happens when a professional sports team is managed on a small budget and kept in a shitty old building - The Toronto Maple Leafs during the Ballard years.

At least Rogers is putting money into the team and stadium. It is up to the fan if they want to purchase a ticket.

Right, but there are owners out there like Mark Cuban that care just as much about the team success then just turning a profit. Your giving credit to a company for taking as much money as they can from you. I don't understand...

Atkins and Shapiro are inept at fielding a team at any price.

Senior management are inept at assessing players. Inept at developing players and delusional to believe the team is getting better when it clearly isn’t.

All companies try to take as much money from you as they can. Fortunately in this case it is up to you how much you choose to spend. You can still buy some cheap seats (under $10) on the 500 level and enjoy the game in person. You can even walk around and hang out in the standing room sections to check out the game from different vantage points. If you go on Tuesdays you can get hotdogs for a buck.

When will there be a Ross Atkins Booblehead night?

I think he's worse than JP Ricciardi.

The Jays have had a pathetic offense and all pundits who predicted that are bang on so far this season. You can't win on a regular basis when 5-6 starters, including your leadoff hitter, are hitting below 200. Some are way below 200. Bo has the 3rd highest batting average on the team ... 208.
