Vlad was hype since day one because it was all marketing

buck and dan joe siddel the rest of the crew are mouth pieces to sell the jays otherwise they lose their easy jobs

Yeah I'm not buying this at all. I understand to a certain extent their job is to make the whole team sound exciting and get people to tune in, but that's true for all broadcasters.

They're not going say "so Vlad's been a big bust so far, he's really been playing like shit since last June, and we hope Atkins trades him ASAP so the team can get something for him while they can".

All I know, is people can go blah blah blah blah about the offence and the need for better defence and the need for better bullpen pitching blah blah…. Bottom line Ross Atkins went and fucked up this whole lineup over the last 2/3 seasons by overthinking things with this ridiculous urgency to kill any momentum, balance the team out according to some one dimensional reasoning, and make this lineup not as scary. I think the only salvation at this point is hoping Barger or Martinez can come up and do something. I think what it really boils down to is who do you like better? The 21/22 team or the 23/24 team? Hmmmm…… not to mention our Einstein manager, has not been playing the hell out of David Schneider.

Did Atkens do this on purpose?

but for some unexplainable reason, my instincts are telling me that this very well might be the team.

Well that went downhill fast

Be more like bemeup....

This team should start to round into form by the end of April. Romano and Swanson will be back in the bullpen. Jansen will be back to split the catching duties with Kirk. Yariel Rodriguez will take over as fifth starter, and Joey Votto will be on the bench and an important dugout presence. And the schedule will lighten up.

I know lol I’m such a Blue Jays Bandwagon jumper. Hopefully we can go back to those March feelings.

I hope the fans take a stand and boycott a losing team.

The team control part is definitely correct. I don’t know the game I watch, I just feel like Vlad needs protection in the lineup and I had always felt like trading Teoscar was a mistake. I felt like he looked good in a Blue Jays uniform, and he has said multiple times he would welcome a return to Toronto. I feel like they could’ve re-signed him back then before they traded him because he looked happy in Toronto. He was a big brother to Vlad, and there was a chemistry there. Sometimes if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Everyone keeps saying his defence was a liability and sure statistically it’s not perfect… But at the same time, I don’t recall watching a Blue Jays game in 2021 or 2022 and feeling like Hernandez blew the game the way I feel watching Bichette throw the ball away in the bottom in the ninth

I could go on and on and on about how they should have kept him. but what difference does it make? He’s gone, and Ross Atkins and his ability to maintain a scary lineup that is intimidating to navigate…… is a joke! He has overshot, and he has overthought….. and there is absolutely no reason why we should be forced to give him our faith in his moves because he literally has no credibility.

Part of trading Teo and Lourdis was management didn't like the fact that the three of them were having too much fun and not caring about winning. They wanted to surround Vladdy with more positive influences instead of his buddies.. The Jays already had plenty of good hitters so I don't see why Vladdy needs protection in the lineup. Teo's defence wasn't bad but they wanted better defenders in the outfield. Bichette is a second baseman not a short stop but yet want's to be paid as one.

Adam Macko was also part of the Hernandez - Swanson trade. He's among the Jays' current top ten minor league prospects. If he pans out in the Majors, the deal is a win for the Jays. I don't see Hernandez being part of the 2023 Jays making them advance any farther in last year's post season.

I was involved in Rotisserie League Baseball for nine years, (1987-95), which is a betting pool where one's team is acquired through an auction, rather than by snake draft. When you assess talent in Roti ball, the main focus in building your team is the ratio of cost to productivity. With $260 to purchase 23 players, you need to think long and hard whether you want Aaron Judge enough to overbid the guy willing to pay $42. If you spend too much on a few guys that everyone wants, you end up with half a roster of middle relievers and pinch hitters.

Real baseball has become more like that since the soft salary cap/ luxury tax was introduced. Removing Hernandez from the salary equation allowed for other pieces to be added, since the Jays are not one of the teams willing to spend more than a little above the limit where financial penalties begin.

The Orioles are in a great position, because they have lots of young, inexpensive controllable talent, and their new ownership syndicate has VERY deep pockets.

Teoscar is such a likeable guy. His pedigree was on the final legs of the Bautista era. Goddamnit they needed that leadership Lol. I saw those initial interviews when he was traded to the mariners. He was shocked and felt awkward. I personally think they didn’t resign him, because the relationship was not there with the front office. I like the Jays better with him than without him……. he has game changing power and he’s a threat in the lineup. I can say this until I’m blue in the face. It’s always easy to crunch the numbers and think in the opposite direction…

What needs to happen is Varsho needs to step it up or he will find himself out of baseball in three years.

Because he’s a baby that needs to be sandwiched in the lineup so he can see pitches to hit. Lol. He also needs his buddies back and he needs the jacket back.

Sportscastes are personalities and salesmen and most are bad about giving real deep objective insight because
they do not have a deep understanding of the game because it is not required

The fans get WTF they want which is baby food analysis like vlad is trying to hard to carry the team instead of
deep insight as to why vlad is not, and will never be, a superstar

I would love to hear a bright athlete tell fans to enjoy the athletics but stop caring so much and get a life

He would be booed off the field and ostracised by teamates and lose his deals telling kids to eat junk food like springer does
or whatever

One more thing about Ross Atkins and then I’m logging out lol

Not only did he destroy a potent, scary, frightening lineup over the past 2/3 seasons……he went ahead and killed the chemistry that this team had. He changed its DNA. What kind of baseball executive doesn’t recognize chemistry? You crunch numbers to a certain point, but the other half of you has to recognize logic and chemistry. This isn’t the Los Angeles Dodgers. This isn’t the 90s New York Yankees….. we are in the top 10 in the league in team salary. There’s a little added pressure of the talent to fulfil and succeed…. and chemistry is humungous. You don’t start mixing it up because you think you have the analytical answers. I’m sorry there was no reason to change the 2022 team. They should’ve added some bullpen pieces through free agency and they would’ve been just fine.

That's not true at all. Many have been pro's, coaches and managers...etc. Lots of them have a deep understanding in their respective sports. What they say on the air is completely different then what they actually know. These are good gigs and they're not going to blow them buy saying something stupid that gets them in hot water all because they want to prove they know more then the people currently above them. It's how many business's work.

Howard Cosell's list of qualifications to be a sportscaster: A three letter man in College, and a guttural illiterate.

One of my favorites, from the NBA finals around 1972: "Eighty-six, seventy-six. For the second time, the Lakers lead by eight".

I also remember Hubie Brown, in a more recent NBA finals, saying "It's short." on a three point shot attempt just after the ball was released, an it was.

Can the Jays get over .500 today? I'm assuming it's Francis tonight?

The Yankees did not look like a good team yesterday.

Speaking of which I saw that Springer, Vlad and Bichette had gone a combined 3 for 41 in the previous 4 games. We don't need Ohtani or Soto or Bellinger. Atkins likes the team we have.

March 21:

Here's a feature article about Paolo Espino, who pitched five scoreless innings with 8 Ks today:

Definitely watch the short videos of his curveball.

If it was my decision, I would DFA Wes Parsons and add Espino to the 40 man roster as soon as Manoah's status is favourable.

The team we have should be hitting better. They have in the past.

Ohtani: was going to the Dodgers and the Dodgers only
Soto: no trade assets for
Bellinger: No one was giving into his asking price so he returned to his current team on a much smaller deal. He wouldn't have done the same for the Jays and most other teams.

How long are we supposed to wait?

So why did Atkins say that the Jays were going to address their biggest need, offense, in the off-season, if there were no options other than designating an offensive co-ordinator and putting in more cup holders? How well do feel that they addressed that glaring witness, or was it an impossibility from the get-go.

The Jays' offense sucked last year and is sucking even worse this year, so far.

The Jays window is closing rapidly. Desperate times call for desperate measures. They should have been desperate enough to overpay for Bellinger . Just ask Philip.

I know there are people who don't like J. Schneider.

Let's give credit where credit is due. He won the game last night with 2 substitutions at the exact right time that accounted for all 3 runs.. He pulled Biggio and then Clement hits a homer.

He substitutes Kirk for Serven at 2nd. Kirk would never have advanced to 3rd and 2 wild pitches later two more guys came home.

Just sayin'.
