Schneider is just the tip of the rot in this organization.
Shapeero is a control freak. He refused AA any autonomy. Adkins is his lap dog and an extra layer of protection for the prez in case things go wrong. And you can be pretty sure that a lot of line decisions are made by upper management just like the Berrios decision in the playoffs last. They have made a full commitment to analytics, which also explains why T. Schneider has sat each game after he's hit a HR. They refuse to use their eyes, scouting and common sense. So yes, John Schneider is the least of their problems. He is a pawn that is low down in the chain of command and decision making.

New renovations at the Dome, new practice facilities, new cup holders, new food items, new uniforms are all meaningless and will do nothing to put butts in the seats with their inflationary new ticket pricings.

They are not even half as smart as they think they are. And they are definitely not baseball people. They are corporate PR people. I can't help but cheer for the guys on the field each game, but as far as the way this team is run, I want those guys out of here.

Adkins promised to address the team's lack of offense, their admitted most glaring weakness. Once their hopeless and sham of an attempt to sign Ohtani ended, what happened to all of that money they were ready spend? Now they were paupers and all of a sudden it was "I like the team that we have." All of a sudden, the lack of offense no longer seemed to be a glaring weakness. We can fix it internally with coaching ("hey look, we have an offensive co-ordinator") and the guys who had off years will all rebound and the guys who had good and injury free years will repeat. Spin doctoring 101.

And in their 8 years of criticizing AA's farm system, current rankings have their farm system solidly in the bottom 1/3 of all of baseball.

These guys have been failures on the field, in their development system and with this start, all of their spin doctoring is being exposed, the fans are seeing through it and soon they will be failures at attendance, TV ratings and revenue generation. They've pre-sold a lot of tickets for this year bit if this season spins out of control, they will really see it next year. They will have failed in every way imaginable especially in retaining the goodwill of their fan base, which just happens to be in at least the top 4 of all of baseball. They have a whole country to themselves.

Don't let ownership off the hook. They had the choice of keeping AA in control or bringing in Shapiro. They chose the later. I often wonder if Ted Rogers was still alive at the time would that move have been made. My gut says "no" and he would have kept AA.

I understand your point, but it was not necessarily an either or as far as being in the organization. TBH, Shapeero probably had better credentials as far as the presidency because of his better business background and experience with the Indians and it was he who forced AA out.

Anthopoulos rejected a five-year extension from the Blue Jays organization on October 29, 2015, and did not publicly reveal the reasons for his decision. He later said "I just think there's certain things that should remain private and behind closed doors, and I know sometimes that's hard to hear and hard to understand. I just think it's the right thing for the organization and the ball club and everybody involved."[36] There was some speculation that his departure was due to the belief that he would not have full autonomy under new president/CEO Mark Shapiro. According to The Globe and Mail, "The talk around the water cooler is that Anthopoulos wanted the same job and responsibility that he had under Beeston, who hired him as GM. That was having the ultimate say in all baseball-related decisions."[36] Shapiro refuted these claims on November 1, stating "It's not about autonomy, it's about collective success". He also denied suggestions that he "scolded" Anthopoulos over several deadline trades involving Blue Jays' top prospects.[37]

The prez forced AA's hand but Rogers would have also been totally fine if the Prez would have kept him. Sure, we can give some of the blame to Rogers, but they are not baseball people and it's the prez who decides the philosophy and culture of the team.

Maybe I’ll go to sleep and have a dream that they signed Cody Bellinger and Teoscar Hernandez. And then later on maybe I’ll wake up and maybe it will be true…

I would think Shapiro had Atkins pegged for the job right from the beginning. Only problem was AA was in the way. The solution was to let AA know he(Shapiro) would be an asshole to deal with if he stayed, leaving AA with no practical option other than to leave.

^^^^ The line on Teo thus far. He sure sure would look good in the Blue Jays lineup right now. Small sample size… but still.

Is it safe to say the manager has lost the room yet? After that crap against the Twins and pulling Jose Barrios, how the hell do you keep your team engaged and take what you say seriously?

Philip
The Jays needed swing and miss bullpen help.Swanson has given them that so far. Teo was an upcoming free agent and is a liability defensively Teo is a good hitter but also comes with a high price tag. The Jays hitting when they traded him was great not shitting the bed like it has last season and so far this season. Swanson is also under team control at a good salary. I still think it was a win for the Jays.

Every Leaf had a hit vs Tampa the other night. How many hits did the Jays get?
If not for that miracle by Babe in game 2 of the series, the Jays would have been not only swept but shut out every game. How humiliating.

The team control part is definitely correct. I don’t know the game I watch, I just feel like Vlad needs protection in the lineup and I had always felt like trading Teoscar was a mistake. I felt like he looked good in a Blue Jays uniform, and he has said multiple times he would welcome a return to Toronto. I feel like they could’ve re-signed him back then before they traded him because he looked happy in Toronto. He was a big brother to Vlad, and there was a chemistry there. Sometimes if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Everyone keeps saying his defence was a liability and sure statistically it’s not perfect… But at the same time, I don’t recall watching a Blue Jays game in 2021 or 2022 and feeling like Hernandez blew the game the way I feel watching Bichette throw the ball away in the bottom in the ninth

I could go on and on and on about how they should have kept him. but what difference does it make? He’s gone, and Ross Atkins and his ability to maintain a scary lineup that is intimidating to navigate…… is a joke! He has overshot, and he has overthought….. and there is absolutely no reason why we should be forced to give him our faith in his moves because he literally has no credibility.
