Johan Santana is putting up great numbers for the Mets in National League.
0.78 ERA 46 IP 60 Strike outs, 13 walks
National League pitching stats are favourably inflated by roughly 12%-15% because they pitch to only 8 and not 9 hitters. His stats would not be so good with the Yanks in the American League where there are 9 hitters in the lineup.

I guess that would bump his ERA to a whopping 0.90.

Something wrong with Hill? I didn't see much of the game last night and I just passed by it tonight and saw Johnny Mac at second. Hill hurting or just a night off?

He's DH'ing tonight. Not sure what, but he tweaked something last night and came out early.

Jays just took a 2-1 lead off of B-Rod's double. Bottom 5. 1 out.

I think he fouled a ball off his shin last night and came out of the game in the 5th inning due to pain. Heard he was limping around in the dressing room after and was feeling sore.

They played the ugly games 2 nights in a row !
4 for 22 runners in scoring position !!!!
They are done.
They had a brainless manager Cito Gaston.
He doesn't know how to grab the Win.
Batting coach and pitching coach are joking in the dugout all night .
They didn't care about lose the game .
"Ship is sinking"
Watch out !!
They will be lose 10 games in a row !!!!!

Tallett had a good game as did Rios.

Jesse Carlson however is proving a bit of a liability. Two losses already this season is not good. I would expect him to be one of those sent down when others return.

Wells is also very disappointing. They are stuck with him though.

I wouldn't blame Carlson just yet, the biggest harm came from the 3 walks given by Tallet in the 1st, this game will have been closer if he doesn't walk that run in, and yes sadly we are stuck with VW...

overall this was not too bad considering the pitching match ups, Richmond and Tallet were not even supposed to be in the rotation and Tallet was good last night (except for the first and even then he minimized the damage)

Tallet was fine last night. The problem was lack of run production.

Speaking of the Yankees, it is amazing in their long storied history they never had a 300 game winner or a 3,000 hit hitter (Jeter could be the first).

That Yankee series was not a good omen for how you want the 54 games against Yankees/Sox/Rays to go.

The hitting in all 3 games was just terrible. They won the first game; but, needed to make the absolute most of the little hitting they did to get a win.
The Yankees are starting to wake up and they're starting to rev the engine. Watch out AL East.

there is a saying in baseball "good pitching will stop good hitting anytime" that was Pettitte and CC pitching out there and they were on their game (is not gonna happen every time) I see no reason to worry yet since this is the FIRST series that the boys have lost at home (and second overall) a month and a half into the season

Ricky Romero is off 15 day DL and optioned to Las Vegas.
There is going to be a lot of competition for starting jobs on this team with a lot of guys coming off DL.
Janssen should take over from Robert Ray after Saturday's game.
When Litsch comes off the disabled list he could get optioned to Las Vegas since he was kind of underwhelming in the second half of last season and the beginning of this season.

This Lefthanded pitcher Castro in Vegas had another terrific performance Friday. Jays got him for Matt Stairs from Philly last year.
Castro went 8.0 innings 3 hits 2 walks 5 strike outs, zero runs.

Maybe he'll win back to back pitcher of week in PCL league, although he only had one start this week (Friday).
Here are Castro numbers in minors:
4W -0L 0.94 ERA 48IP 11BB 39SO 0.82 WHIP
http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/...abio Castro&pos=P&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=466983

I hope Robert Ray gets optioned down soon because I get really nervous when he's pitching. He only has one pitch, (his fastball) which is considered decent; but, the rest of his repertory is kind of underwhelming by MLB standards. He needs to do a lot of work on his other pitches. He gives up too many home runs too.
I'm going to Saturday's game. Hope he does enough to give team a chance to win.

This team has a chance to develop a really good 5 man rotation to end of season of:

Halladay
Janssen
Cecil
Tallet
Romero

Marcum would probably be in there in place of one of them (obviously not Halliday though).

Jury is still out on Richmond.
