Nice game by the Jays today, nice to see them win with defense which by the way , the Jays defense is very underrated.
Don't forget the pitching. Good pitching yesterday and a shutout to-day. Is Rick Romero the real deal?

I think this team can challenge for at least the wildcard title under Cito, possibly more

My only concern is BJ Ryan's fastball, its around 85 to 87 mph, thats too slow for a closer. It should be around 88 to 90 mph at least.
Although he probably will still be effective vs lefties with his sweeping delivery

IMO he is

If I remember correctly these last two low scoring games were the sort of games the Jays lost last year.

Best start in recent years was 12 - 4. Be good if they could match that but I doubt whether Percey is going to be sufficiently improved for his next outing.

Nice of course to see Boston, Yankees and TB having lots of their own problems. :p

You miss something? Sox are right behind Jays now after reeling off four in a row and cooling off the very hot hitting Orioles. They are on a nine game home stand where they play very well.

Sometimes its the poor teams that can give good teams the most trouble ;)

wish I knew who the "real" teams are ?????

New York?
Boston?
Texas?
Chicago?
Cleveland ???

there are only 2 teams with double digits victories in the major (one in each league) we know the Jays are one but did you know FLORIDA is the other ?

Sure did, but I guess you didn't know there are three teams with double digit wins. Anyways, I have no idea what your point is on this? Are you trying to say Florida came out of no where to have a great start? You don't follow baseball if you think that.

Anywho, its way too early for anyone to start bragging yet.
Lets see where the Jays stand 2 months from now, then we can start to get a little excited

my bad I guess you knew that Florida was going to be 11 - 1

anyways the point remains that it is waaaaaaaaay too early in the season to be drawing conclusions, the Jays are having a nice ride and I am enjoying it, Cito is a great Manager who brought 2 kids from AAA to start this season (something the idiot that was coaching before will never have done) and it has certainly paid off big time

go Jays go !!!!!

WTF are you on about? How the hell Florida got into this I have no clue. Maybe I will clue you in on what I was talking about, since you don't seem to be able to follow.

You and some others are always complaining how tough the Jays have it in the AL East, how they can't compete. How the AL Central is lousy and how they would be champions if they played there. Fair enough statement. So I was merely pointing out that the Jays have played 11 games against this so called crap division and 8 of their wins came against the sisters of the poor. Now do you get it? I also said it tongue in cheek to the other posters but you obviously did not recognize it. So again, what Florida being 11-1 has to do with anything, I haven't a clue. But, yes, I did think they were going to be a very good team. Anybody who follows baseball would know that.

please do not quote me for things I have not said

1- I do not recall complaining how tough the Jays have it in the AL East (at least not in recent memory)

2- I have never said the AL Central is lousy

3 - I have never said that they would be champions if they played there

Of course it's way too early to be thinking the Jays are going to win anything but like most on here I'm happy to be enjoying the unbelievable start that have had.

Who would have though the Jays without Burnett, Marcum, Litsch and McGowan would be achieving so much out of their pitching? Wonder of wonders Jason Frasor is proving himself and Ryan might now be recovering form.

Of course we could have expected better offensive efforts given the way the team improved under new management second half of last season. But could anyone have expected Scutaro, Hill, Lind and Snider to show so much current form?

The other surprises have been how weak if not downright terrible some of the pitching has been for the other AL East teams.

Maybe the schedule has been a little kind to the Jays but the funny thing is that the teams the Jays have been beaten have done well in a lot of subsequent games e.g. Indians 22 - 4 win over the Yankees.

We all know things are not going to stay quite like this. Yankees have had slow starts before and Boston now seem to be on a bit of a roll themselves. However Baltimore now seem to be cooling and TB have yet to get started.

Sooner or later we are going to get a reality check. Hopefully that will be when the Jays are 10 games up on the number 2 team. :D

I am enjoying any type of victories the Jays have. People will say that the Jays have should have beat this team or that team and now the Jays are beating those teams. They are beating some of the weaker teams but a win is a win and if the other pre-season contenders are having a harder time with teams they are supposed to beat then all the better for the Jays.

I agree. Plus they've been winning series on the road in Cleveland, Minnesota, and Cleveland just happened to put up 22 on the Yanks, so they aren't that weak, are they?
