In terms of Utd scoring the winning goal, 4 mins of added time is just the minimum not the max. The ref doesn't have to blow this whistle right at the 4 min mark. And I don't think that extra bit of time was responsible for Richards not paying attention.

There is a long history since the early 90's of Man Utd getting all sorts of extra extra time at home when they are tied or down a goal.

No doubt, but all "big" teams have a habit of doing the same, I believe Liverpool scored their fair share of 94 minute winners last season.
My only point was that the added time signalled by the 4th official was a minimum as it is in all games and a lot of people seem to believe that's all that can be played.

I agree with Becks...BOTH teams had the same amount of time. Mystery minutes or not, ManU fully deserved to win that game, they had all the attacking initiative. I still haven't quite figured out what Rio was doing, but that pass was Sunday afternoon in the park stuff!

I can see why Balotelli would have attitude problems, he must have been chomping at the bit to take on Abidal but he didn't get into the match until the 85th minute - advantage Barca. Against Samp he was the most dangerous man on the pitch, so what does The Special One do, he substitutes him with The Stiff of Old Trafford (Chivu). This allows the Samp midfield to move forward for the inevitable goal.

Another tactical error Mourinho made was starting Vieira over Stankovic; this allowed Ironman Palombo to put a stranglehold on the middle of the pitch. No wonder Cassano is such a model citizen these days; that Palombo is one scary dude.

Its a sad day for soccer folks, it looks like the AC milan decline might be permanent.
I cant see them being a Europa league contender anytime soon again.

Not sure it's that sad of a day. AC Milan has a strong brand and will be fine in the long term. However, AC has been suffering big financial losses for several years and there comes a time for every business to clean up their finances.

So in the short term they either need a new sugar daddy or look for new revenue streams. It always amazed me when I looked at Serie A games that they had smaller crowds and less global TV revenue than Spain or England but that didn't stop them, at least in the past, from paying big money for transfers. Also, I like seeing different teams qualifying for CL, as long as Arsenal is not replaced

Thanks to the sweetheart deal between Sportsnet and Setanta, TLN has been frozen out of the CL picture and I wasn't able to watch this match.

I have a good idea what happened; Liverpool was totally unprepared to deal with the Stealth Bomber (Jovetic) and were punished. The Reds came out swinging in the second half but Frey stood his ground. El Nino, not having the benefit of the dive like he did against Materazzi, was harrassed mercilessly by Gamberini. Imagine how scary France would be if Frey were the starting goalie. Fortunately, Domenench is too sensible for that.

I never understood why Mourinho needed to pick fights with Lippi and Capello; a rabbit should not pluck the whiskers of lions. Now his inability to shut his ass is coming back to haunt him. He must be feeling like Julius Caesar on his way to the Senate on the flight back to Milano. Luciano Spaletti will replace him by Christmas.

Actually what happened is Liverpool's defense has been totally crap lately and they got caught with an failed offside trap and a lucky/cheeky deflection.

And if Torres and Gerrard aren't on their game the chance of Pool winning are slim.

I have Rogers HD and I get 3 matches today. Sportsnet is playing 2 and Setana is playing one.

Man Utd vs Wolfsburg (502/503) & Juventus vs Bayern (504/505) are on Sportsnet

And Chelsea vs Apoel is on Setana.

Milan have to completely rebuild or they are going down the shitter.
They lost again 1-0 today vs Zurich out of all teams. It was in a half empty stadium, which is also not a good sign.

A very interesting weekend in the EPL this weekend. This season has been many things but boring isn't one of them. As a Man Utd fan I just want to say that Arsenal scored 6 of the nicest goals I've seen in awhile, not a bad one in the bunch.

In the glory days, when Nesta was healthy, Milan were unbeatbale. Now, they better pray for his fitness or else relegation looms. They made three critical mistakes last season:

- Not accepting ManCity's offer for Kaka
- Selling Gourcuff to Bordeaux
- Failing to sign Micele Canini

The last one is particularly egregious; you now have Iggy Abate playing right back since Jankulovski has turned into a black hole. He's desperately needed in midfield where Flamini is looking overworked and forlorn. Whatever Cagliari were asking it couldn't have been more than what Juve paid for Filipe Mello.

Mello really shit the bed today! He has been called Brazilian wood by disgruntled Juve fans and was taken to the woodshed by young Javier Pastore. The 20 year old Argie looks like a clone of Javier Zanetti, Maradona should consider calling him up.
