I watched most of that game too (how Bendtner pulled that off as a Gooner fan I don't know)...but christ Pepe dives A LOT. Any contact on that guy and he went down.

On a happier note, Portugal's World Cup hopes are decreasing...if they don't get max. points vs Hungary they are done. The streets will be clear next summer!!!

I wish that were true but the Portuguese community in the GTA will merely put away their flags and take out their Brazilian flags, which is one of the most stupid switch overs ever!!! imagine a guy in London, England running around with the stars and stripes!! but yes I agree a World Cup without Portugal and France is that much better. Also here is to hoping that England, Scotland, and the entire island of Ireland all qualify for the WC :D

As usual the Italian wallets win out!!
He's entitled to his comment, the Azzurri were indescribably bad. It was perhaps the worst match i've ever seen. Lippi has lost it, he's letting his ego overrule is better judgement. I would rather not see them in South Africa they are going to get skinned!

Brazil 3 Argentina 1

Maradona should not be coaching the Blauceleste; he makes terrible decisions. Heinze and Tevez got the starts and they were the worst players on the pitch. The former is flat-footed and the latter is grossly over-rated, I've never liked him. Ivan Campognaro should have started in place of Heinze - he wasn't even called to the team. Luisao erased Messi from the pitch, he may have had some space if he had been partnered with Kun or Zarate - the later wasn't even called up to the squad.

Great weekend for us Portuguese. We can now relax our worries about looking foolish in South Africa...since we won't be going. Ridiculous campaign.

Also, how did Domenech keep his job for France after their Euro 2008 fiasco? France will probably qualify, but they will have to do a playoff round because they will not win their group. Pretty sad when you consider the talent at their disposal.

There is an open revolt against Domenech among French players. France's goaltending is a joke, this causes the French defenders to play stiff. Any sort of mistake on their part has resulted in goals. Unfortunately for them if Domenench remains in charge, and if they qualify , they will be going to South Africa with erratic goaltending.

The Platini faction does not want to relinquish power to the Deschamps/Zidane camp, therefore, Domenench keeps his job. He has become more obdurate than ever; not one Serie A player was called up for the match against Romania.

And we all know that there is one player in Serie A that could dramatically improve France's prospect in South Africa. I suggest you mute the music:

I didn't realize there was a power struggle. This Platini guy is really pissing me off now that he is head of UEFA, not to mention Blatter.

And as for Frey, he has to be the best Keeper that is not at a top 10 European club, perhaps Diego Lopez of Villareal is close. Being an Arsenal fan I would take either of them or Akfineev over the clown we have in goal.

Also, is the reason Frey doesn't play because he should have replaced Barthez a while ago?

Every four years I do find myself watching the World Cup, but outside of the WC the only thing SOCCER is good for is a sleep aid.

oh great another goofball from small town Ontario taking a break from eating mayonnaise sandwiches, fucking his sister and listening to Stomping Tom to tell us how boring soccer is!!! listen bud if ya dont like a sport why do you post in a thread about it?? I personally find the NBA and the CFL extremely boring but ya dont see me posting in the Raptors thread!!!! why because I dont need the attention unlike some others.

ok back to more important matters, now can someone explain to me why UEFA feels compelled to throw minnows like San Marino, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg into their regular qualifying tournament only to have the crap kicked out of them on a mostly constant basis? Wouldnt it make more sense to have a tier level qualifying like they do in international hockey, where the lesser powers have to work to play in the A and B pools with the big boys.

I find it amusing and a little sad when guys like this feel they have to criticize the most popular sport in the world. There is nothing original or interesting about the statement at all.

For those of you needing a little update: Netherlands are going to South Africa and my Boys are leading Estonia 1 - 0 in the second half.

...I happen to like Stompin Tom.

England 5 Croatia 1
Italy 2 Bulgaria 0
Serbia 1 France 1

Lesson no. 1: To Croatian coach Slaven Bilic.

Never play mind games with Fabio Capello. Many have tried, all have failed.

Italy looked better against Bulgaria, however, no one has replaced Totti and the Azzurri will not be a factor at South Africa until someone does. De Rossi returned from suspension and partnered well with Marchisio. Neither played against Georgia, they should be holding the Azzurri midfield for many years to come.

You have to admit, Domenech has nads; Ribery is in his doghouse and only played 20 minutes against Serbia. France thoughed it out after going to ten men when goalie Hugo Lloris got red carded. Regardless, Domenech is a dumclaude.

Finally I'm looking forward to AQ at Liverpool, he has the talent to play in the EPL. If he could learn to dedicate himself to fitness, there may be a spot for him on the Azzurri.

...now if you'll excuse me, there are girls in bikinis on RAI.

Kitchener/Waterloo
Back to the EPL

Winners: Chelski (unfortunately)

Prediction: Burnley will maintain their EPL staus, barely.
I'm bias as I'm a Burnley lad born and bred. Manager Coyle has the boys playing with confidence.
An interesting stat: One top line EPL player is worth more $$ than Burnley have paid in transfer fees in their existance.
