My first cell phone. It was a company phone and at the place I worked the portable phone had limited range for the site I worked at so they got me this. Weighed a ton but worked fine.

Here's one.

I remember being a kid in elementary school and this girl in the class brought one in for "show and tell" and the teacher freaked and shut her down proclaiming, "I will not waste time on something so stupid". (I get it now.)

When I was a kid, these things seemed so fucking cool. Now, I look at it and feel like puking.

(Originally, I posted a pic of fish and chips and it really wasn't disgusting enough and then I thought, "Salisbury Steak"!! Basically Alpo, but when you're a kid it was downright Michelin Star'd. Amazingly enough, they still make them and sell them at Walmart. (Who knew.) But the ones they sell today are in that black plastic tray for the microwave, so I found a pic of one with the Aluminum tray, which is what I remember. Just preheat the oven to the magic all encompassing temperature of 350 and away you go.)

But come to think of it, the ones they have today which are meant for the microwave are probably way more disgusting than the ones we had as kids.

And of course, you had to combine the TV dinner with these (which my parents actually had when we were kids!!)

Here's another one we ate like it was going out of style when we were kids. I was like 8 years old and I could make this myself.

They were actually pretty good if I recall and I don't feel like puking just looking at them and funnily enough there is some thing on the internet about "please bring this back".

I doubt I would buy it now, maybe just out of nostalgia, but that would be about it.

Sour cream flavoured chips, I must have been around 8 years old when this flavour first came out (my parents had a corner convenience store) I thought the chips had turned bad, I tossed it out and opened another bag and realized it's suppose to be that way, lol

My mother used to have one of those hair dryers that she stuck her head into (big plastic helmet type thingy with holes on the inside where the hot air would come out.

There was also the shower cap type hair dryer connected to a hose with hot air.

Used to call them “Tommy Tube skates” - I had multiple pairs then I got the new fangled - state of the art - get ready for it :

LANG skates :) Wow - now that’s a long time ago.

I was always an ankle skater until the Langes came around. They had great lateral support with those molded plastic boots. By then, it was too late for my pro career.

Loved those and the “apple pie” (if you could call it that). I was actually just discussing those with someone a short while ago and thought it would make for ine fantastic memorable Xmass dinner - pull out six of these and say Merry Xmas - dig in :). But not available in the aluminum tray anymore - which was an added bonus for long term memory enhancement:) ha ha ha

TV - trays - if I could find a decent one today I think I would buy it :).

Happy belated Christmas:

Mid century TV trays are here.

And check out the prices. For something we probably bought at Sears for 10 bucks.

That was the same size as my first car phone bought it used for $200. What a bargain. Almost killed myself a few times trying to use it while driving.
