On the surface, this feels like a pro move by the Sharks so that Marleau can do a final lap with his long-time team and then slip gently into retirement. Thinking he won't likely pick up too many minutes or make too much more than a locker room contribution. Front role office awaits...
He made a rational point, without calling somebody a jerk or telling them to fuck off. Is nobody allowed to politely disagree? Evidently you can't follow your own recommendations. Please keep things civil.
Yeah, that is a really classy move by the Sharks. This way he can retire gracefully as a Shark. Hall of Fame next.
BTW: If Costanza and Shack have any decency they would restrict their silly antics to their own Leaf thread and leave the rest of us alone.
Shack has been on my ignore list for a long time, so I don't see any of his posts anymore. I've been trying to give gcostanza the benefit of the doubt because when he leaves the BS at the door, he actually offers some interesting perspectives. But if he can't put aside the petty harassment and antagonism, I'd prefer he just have his 'fun' with his buddies in his own thread and stop ruining things for the rest of us here. Same goes for Shack and superstar_88. I thought the first post of this thread had some pretty clear messaging. If it continues, I'll take it up with the mods. They say they want to put an end to the crap here, so maybe we'll need to inquire how serious they actually are about it.
Why is it that all the profanity is coming from Wicki? Wicki is the furthest thing from kind and gentle.

I did use the word SumBitch in one of them, and mentioned the political affiliation of the owners of an NHL club in another.
I fail to see where I disturbed anyone's shit, harrassed or antagonized a member.
I asked a couple questions.
I provided some facts.
I offered my opinion, concisely and without cursing (other than the SumBitch).
Could Mr. Wick offer me an example in those posts where I disturbed a member's shit or antagonized someone?
Now, if a particular member is delicate and sensitive, and offended by the word SumBitch, I do apologize.
I‘m sure John will respond in his own way, and I don’t have any intention to judge this seemingly ongoing “pissing contest” between the two camps; what I’d like to do is to offer an observation as a bystander.
First off, I don’t find any of your posts in this partocular thread out of line. A little mockery is not offensive and I do think John might have overreacted a little bit.
Having said that, I think I can understand why, it’s because of this preconception that you/Shack/S88 are ganging up to bully Darts. Again I’m not here to judge if this “preconception“ is right or wrong, fair or unfair, but I do think that’s what caused his reaction.
This “preconception“ is no different than how you guys look at Darts’ posts. You believe he’s is a Habs fan, a Leafs hater and is here to troll Leafs’ fan and that often lead to “over reaction” in your response.
My humble opinion is that if we can just leave these “preconceptions“ aside and just concentrate on the subjects in discussion without preconceived notions, we can get into a lot more interesting discussion or debates as grownups.

Aside from mentioning his history of racist posts, I have no desire to get into an explanation of any length as to why some of us are less than enamoured of darts' posts. I will just say that, for me, it has nothing to do with darts' preference of hockey teams.
Ok, back to the Leafs. With all the wheeling and dealing so far.
1) Goal: No improvement
2) Defense: Maybe slightly better with Bogosian. Lose Barrie, gain Brodie. Demott still unsigned. Sundin still raw.
3) Offense: Who the hell knows? We lose Kapanen, Johnsson and Clifford. We gain Simmonds and Robertson (an untested rookie).

You’re welcome Shack. I haven’t followed other threads so I can’t comment on your assertions that Darts is a racist. From my very brief exchange on the political issues with him, I did get the impression that he’s an admirer of the Chinese Communist Party which in my opinion is an evil regime and is harmful to the free world. However I recognize that I could be wrong about this impression of Darts so I won’t let that affect the way I communicate with him on the sports discussions.
Actually no, we should talk sometime.
I will say that the PRC did things that would be impossible in a western democracy. Just 3 quick examples.
1) The "one child" policy enabled the PRC to be food self-sufficient.
2) In the PRC, everybody wears masks. That is impossible in the west.
3) Their education system is based on merit, not affirmative action (same as Singapore).
I think the Trudeaus "admire" the PRC and Cuba, not I.
You are bang on smuddan. I am simply fed up of the bullying that these three posters seem to delight in perpetrating on ANYONE who they disagree with. Darts is just the 'target du jour'. They follow him around the board incessantly quoting virtually every post he makes, always with the goal of challenging, belittling, abusing, insulting and antagonizing - the subject doesn't matter in the least. It's just a pretense under which they can continue the bullying. They brand him a racist. They perpetually call him by derogatory and insulting nicknames. It just never stops. It's nothing but a concerted, coordinated effort to run someone out of town. Most of the time, Darts doesn't even respond, so they ramp it up all the more. They think they're cool, and funny, smart, and oh so mature. Right. Pack of ten year olds chasing the same kid around the schoolyard every damn recess. If/When the kid changes schools, they find a new target.
For the record, I don't know Darts from Adam. I see and read what he posts and on occasion, I agree, sometimes I disagree. But I don't feel the need like these three do to go to war with every damn post he makes, regardless of topic, and chase him around every forum trying to bash what he says, or somehow discredit his opinions or prove he's an idiot. I started this thread because in the original thread, that's all there seemed it was going to be. A concerted effort to shut someone out of the conversation - basically anyone they disagree with. So I started this thread so that others who don't feel the constant urge to bully could have discussions without all the passive-aggressive, elephant in the room bullying distracting from hearing people's opinions. So what happened? People who got it, and were equally fed up with the bullshit migrated their comments to this thread. When traffic on their thread started to slow, the three bullies migrated to this thread and started up the same old crap. And here we are.
It's not my board, and I'm not a mod here, but fucking hell I'm tired of these three guys. We can't even have one goddamn thread on a topic MANY like to discuss with good-natured banter and teasing without dealing with the juveniles popping off always trying to back bite, antagonize, insult and make everything a personal attack.
I agree, a little good-natured mockery is not offensive. This is anything BUT good-natured, and a LOT of members are sick of it. It was perfectly clear the direction these guys were heading, so I'm calling it out now, hoping it will have the effect of winding the crap down. Hopefully the mods here will take note and take action to course correct.
In the meantime, I'll say it again to the same three: Smarten the fuck up if you want to participate in this thread and you'll be welcome. When delivered without the constant snark, everyone's opinions count. If not, maybe just go back to gcostanza's TML thread, make that one fly, and leave the rest of us the fuck alone.

Aside from the line in my sig quote, which is blatant, he has made references to the colour of the skin of perpetrators when a crime has been committed and ascribed certain characteristics to Asians for no other reason than they are Asian.
