Canada Youth hockey has an old fart mentality... Kids get picked at 8 or 9 to the triple-letter team. They are protected from coaches (dads!!) all along preventing other kids who develop later from reaching those triple-letter teams... The kids are fucking 9 years old and picked because they are bigger and faster... But at 14 they can become slouched and slow as molasses while other kids are now fast as rockets but stocked on double or single-letter teams...
Soccer has a much better program for youth development.
I'll stand by it also...you don't know a lot about it.

Ya well...that's not the way it is in the youth hockey organization I'm involved in.
Boston is not a Trump town. Never has been, never will be. Boston has more in common with Toronto than it does with Dallas or Florida. Even if they'd never admit it.
I've been Development 1 certified in Hockey for 10 years, and C license in soccer for 5. I've been on local and AAA boards in hockey, and run development for hockey and soccer organizations.
My best players are on scholarship in US prep schools, because the OHL pathway is bad for player (and personal) development. My own kids are playing in "outlaw" programs because the development and the accountability is better.
I walked away from Hockey Canada because I couldn't ignore the abuse anymore. Or the money laundering / outright theft. We need a catholic church moment in hockey. How much psychological and physical abuse and sexual assault are you willing to fund with your own money?
Look at what is going on in Brantford right now: Instead of folding a team to protect a kid, they're hiding behind "process" so a board-member and/or sponosor's kid doesn't have to face consequences for their actions.. That is going on in every association in the province right now to a greater or lesser degree. I will bet dollars against doughnuts that if you are involved with a local organization you have heard "That's just kids being kids" or "they're just volunteers" to avoid dealing with abuse.
Are you telling us your resume to impress? Development 1 certified in hockey is not that difficult, lots and lots are at that level it's not that hard to achieve, and there are lots of clowns on local hockey boards, the resume you tell is pretty routine and not as impressive as you think.

Look at first-round draft numbers, 2024 was a HUGE year for the OHL, and they just hit where they should be based on player volume:
9 OHLers in the first round, from 20 teams
5 WHLers for 22 teams
6 from USHL - 16 teams
And the best 2 came from college hockey. Expect that trend to continue, especially after the OHL/NCAA transfer changes. The best kids will do a year or 2 in JR, then go play college on scholarship.
2023 - 5 OHL
2022 - 2 OHL
2021 - 1 OHL
2020 - 7 OHL

Boston is Democratic Blue. In Texas much of Dallas and Houston is Democrat, it's the rural areas that are Red.

I have nothing against the USHL and NCAA hockey unlike you saying that “Canadian Hockey is dead” which is a gross extreme biased statement from a guy who seems to have a grudge…don’t support it, you won’t be missed.

Your registration dollars fund this. Your municipal tax dollars fund this. Your Provincial tax dollars fund this, and your federal tax dollars fund this. Participating in Hockey Canada programming is paying so that there can be more fraud and sexual assault.

Exactly this. Canadian hockey is far from "dead". And, to paraphrase a sports columnist I read today, Team Canada is hockey royalty; Team USA is still only the Miracle on Ice. The numbers, medal counts and trophies Canada has compared to the US proves that.
I've never been overly bothered by this, since it's never American talent that wins those Stanley Cups. Just saying.
Sorry, I don’t buy Dangle’s homer point of view. I’m a big Matthews fan and I’ve defended him (and Marner) against unfair criticism; but on the ot goal, he failed to realize the most dangerous guy was his check, i e McDavid in the slot. Marner was open in the corner but he’s not dangerous there. He had practically no angle to shoot and if he skated out, Fox would probably have time to catch up to him. Just because Fox made a bad play doesn’t levitate Matthews’ blame for making a bad decision.

Also on American broadcasts like ESPN hockey analysis did mention Fox's responsibility was to take the right path to the back of the net to cut off the pass.
