"Sweet Caroline" The 4th game is the toughest to win.
So games 5 or 6 or 7 will be easier to win if the Canes don't win the 4th.

not always sure...
To be fair to Burke, Biggs and Percy, the Leafs weren't developing anyone at the time. After Pat Quinn left, Richard Peddie cut the budget for the farm system by 40%.
Peddie had no choice. It was either cut the player development budget or cut the MLSE board’s expense account at Harbour Sixty.
The latter would have caused a mutiny.

Justin Williams and Carolina ("Sweet Caroline") move on to the semi-finals (ok, conference finals).

Justin has already won 3 Cups. Will any of the current Leafs win even one?

Remember Luke Schenn? Big, strong, and truculent. Also slow. Leaf Nation were ready to name him captain in his rookie year. Cliff Fletcher moved up to draft him.

Looks like the Carolina model of loading up on the D rather than loading up on the forwards may be the way to go. They gave the Islanders nothing. Or was it McElhinney. Looking at the Carolina player payroll and it's amazing. Their highest paid player is low 6 million. Nylander would be the highest paid player on the team.

I'm sorry to hear the Islanders went out. I was kind of nostalgic about seeing them deep in the playoffs. I didn't even get a chance to see one of their games. Interesting how the Islanders and BlueJackets came back from their sweep layoff differently. Did the Islanders just lose momentum or did Pittsburgh play so badly that 1st round series grossly distorted how good the Islanders were?

You don't think it was because of Carolina?

Islanders vs Carolina was exciting hockey to watch - Carolina deserved the series but Islanders deserved a better fate than a 0-4 sweep. They both played well.
Islanders failed to bury their chances and suddenly it was over. Carolina looks like a force.

Really hoping the Blue Jackets can come back on Bruins. But regardless of outcome I'l be cheering for the Hurricanes in the East.
The Sharks and Stars both lead their respective series 3-2. I think both will hold on, although I'm really cheering for the Avs to make a comeback.
I would love to see a Hurricanes and Avalanche SC final.

Justin Williams might win his 4th Cup. This must be a modern day record.
Must be not even close.

Using the first expansion as a natural benchmark separating old time from modern era hockey, I counted 40 guys with at least 4 rings.....and I stopped counting at the O's. Of those 40, 15 had more than 4.

Thanks for your research but I was thinking of the salary cap era.

If we go back to expansion, then we have the great Canadien, Islander and Oilers dynasties that won multiple Cups.

Magic Number is 8 :peep:

Let’s GO Bruins
As a Habs fan I was so hoping Columbus would beat the Bruins. The Bruins are looking good to make the finals - especially if Rask continues to play lights out.

Marchand showed how little class he has in his post game interview with Kyle Bukauskas - all because Bukauskas asked him in a previous pre-game interview if he got his skate sharpened after Marchand stomped on and broke Cam Atkinson's stick. Marchand has world class talent but seems to be a complete jerk.

Post script - Marchand continued his classless act in his post game locker room interview. Both Kypreos and Kelly Hrudey called Marchand out for his behavior with Hrudey basically telling him to grow up. Face licking, stick stomping, cheap shots his after the whistle act is growing thin.

Boston showed they weren't going to be pushed around like TB did. Once the game went back to hockey Boston played the better game. That is the Columbus game. Intimidation. Worked on TB. Didn't work on Boston. Would it have worked on Toronto? Would have been interesting to see if Leafs model which is the TB model could beat Columbus.

Is Nylander still MIA? Someone should tell him it's safe to come out now.

Carolina ("Sweet Caroline") will have their hands full with Boston.
