Teddy was the man. This was produced not by Gamble and Huff, but by McFadden and Whitehead.

I can't believe this sound is from 1972. Way ahead of its time. Marvin was a master. Here he's playing the drums

Kindred the Family Soul are one of the very few contemporary r&b/soul artists keeping it down. This is from their Legacy of Love LP released in 2016.

Schoolly D is my 2nd favorite MC of all time, after Guru. This is from his 4th studio LP 'Am I Black Enough For You' released in 1989.

Samples
Fred Wesley and the J.B.'s "Damn Right I'm Somebody"

Graham Central Station "The Jam"

Black Heat "The Jungle"

Some great blue eyed soul right here. Nobody sounded like Michael McDonald.

Did not know that Rod Temperton (from Heatwave) co-wrote this track and played electric piano on it. Makes sense since he partnered with producer Quincy Jones on other artists albums, most notably Michael Jackson's 'Off the Wall'
Louis "Thunder Thumbs" Johnson with the incredible bassline

One of The Whispers signature tunes. These cats were something special. God Bless them!
"And the Beat Goes On"

Will Smith took the beat for his track "Miami". Kinda ruined it for me but the video is dope. Peep Eva Mendes at 1:08.

Played with Steely Dan who were great, the Doobie Brothers, also great band but my favourite recording of his was the duet with Patty LaBelle On My Own,
That duet was fabulous. I heard that a lot growing up as it was played often on CHFI which my mom listened to and kept on the kitchen radio 24/7.
Over the years I have become a big Steely Dan fan and yes McDonald collaborated with them on several occasions. "Peg" being the most notable.
