As you likely know Donald Byrd is my favorite jazz artist. I found him through my love of hip hop because he was sampled so much. Here's another great track from him
"Think Twice" from hi s1974 album Stepping Into Tomorrow.
Producer: Larry Mizell
This track has some exceptional musical talent. Besides Byrd and his trumpet they had Chuck Rainey on bass, Harvey Mason on drums, Jerry Peters on piano, Larry Mizell on the Fender Rhodes, synthesizers and Fonce Mizell on clarinet and trumpet.
Interesting note The Mizell Brothers were 1st cousins to Jam Master Jay from Run DMC and also to Ronnie Spector.
"Looking at the Front Door" by Main Source (1991) sampled the part of "Think Twice" from 1:40-1:51
"Footprints" by A Tribe Called Quest also sampled it
