Another bangin' 90's remix courtesy of Jodeci featuring Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon and Ghostface Killah with the sick rhymes
"Freek N You"

My favorite line is Ghost's "you got me harder than a roll of quarters"

And finally we'll leave off with 16 year old Usher's debut circa 1994. This is my hands down favorite song from him. And he's got many bops in the discog.
Produced by Chucky Thompson from the Hit Men

What an era. I'll never forget it. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I definitely know your preferred tastes ogibowt and I appreciate the compliment. I grew up with 80's and 90's so that will always be dear to my heart.
I credit you and xmontrelear for helping open my eyes to the greatness of the earlier years or as I like to call it, the Foundation. I certainly will be posting the songs I come across from that era as I continue on my journey of discovery. There's so much out there

Thank God Marvin Gaye wasn't successful in his suicide attempt in 1969. Otherwise we wouldn't have been able to see the best of his work which I believe occurred from What's Going On? in 1971 to I Want You in 1976. This is a track from I Want You which is right up there with my favorite Gaye songs. My gosh is this smooth or what.

Nobody sounded like Lou. Definitely one of the most distinctive voices in music history.

I have to say Betty's voice is one of my favorite female soul voices ever. First time I've ever heard this tune. Betty Wright 80's style!

To Hear You Say You're Mine (youtube.com)
one of my Mt Rushmore female singers...Candi Staton.....as with other ballads, she starts .slow and soft...but as the song reaches the 1 minute mark...she lets it go with her powerful vocals.and just exudes Soul..and those horns, my fuckin god.........i love her music
