Well thats people who like to assign labels to themselves. Perhaps a need to peacock or desire to assert status. It's a guess, but to me it appears as weakness when a person needs to publicly announce something and cannot just be.

You bring up actions and character which I am a fan of. Lack of values or more importantly congruent values between partner. A disaster if not vetted in a partner. Something people do not do long enough.

Interestingly you bring up a point. These men must offer something of value to the woman for them to stay. Perhaps like women enduring the Doritos and hair, men must deal with other undesirable traits in their partner.
Maybe she doesn’t have a choice

There are plenty decenting voices for Muhammad Ali, greatness is subjective. Someone might be great by their measurements and not yours. As I've said elsewhere, very few things people think are facts, are actually facts.
Greatness CAN be objectively measured. To say that Usain Bolt is the greatest sprinter who ever lived, Michael Phelps is the greatest swimmer, or David Lee Roth is the greatest lead singer from Van Halen are statements of fact, not of opinion. I believe that, at the turn of the next century, Bolt will still hold the World's Records in both the 100 Meter and 200 Meters; he is that far ahead of everyone else.

Just because you can set a criteria and measure something doesn't make your opinion on what that measurement means, fact. It might be a fact (I don't know bcz I don't follow) that Phelps is the fastest swimmer that we know of, but if that makes him the GREATEST is subjective. You've set the criteria that fastest=greatest, other may have other criteria around technique, or being able to accomplish a certain move, etc.

In every kind of racing competition, fastest equals best. The clock judges all competitors impartially. This also applies to all sports competitions which are determined by quantitative measurements, (eg: Javelin, Shot Put, High Jump, weight lifting, etc.). The traditional Olympic motto is the hendiatris Citius, Altius, Fortius which is Latin for "Faster, Higher, Stronger".

Michael Phelps has the most Olympic medals won in any sport, the most individual Gold medals won, and the most world record set. If you can name a greater swimmer, and justify your selection, please do so.

Technique matters in competitions which are judged subjectively, such as gymnastics or figure skating.

That's your opinion :) and it might be a widely held one, it still doesn't make it fact. These are the way someone chose to measure these specific types of activity, but it was still a choice. Like math, these measures are created based on a set of assumptions and definitions that we all must take as a given to make the thing work. Just because we've come to a consensus on "this is how this will be measured" does not make it a true fact.

Oh please. Doubt you ever have or will. lol. Women won’t wait around and can be resourceful and call someone to fix the roof …
all that traditional list making and admin work sure comes in handy :) not sure how to respond to the story from your mom. They were either roommates or related or halfway house or gay. Sounds like she was a curtain peeker or neighbourhood watch
I can understand your opinion given people lacking skills as the ones I possess. I don't think I'm the shit I but do have a skill set that has made me successful, along with my choices in life.

Sure women can do that. However not everyone can drop 10k with no issue on a roof, or fix a car. That type of skill or resource is attractive in a long term partner.

Yup she definitely was a curtain peeker in a town of 100 people in the 1940s.

Those could be the men who had ”hot Wives” whatever they define that to be and then got them to trust them and then had children. And then he got bored. Called her ugly. He got fat. Blamed her for wanting “fancy dinners” (according to other poster here ) and yells at her and then goes to the store for cigarettes and Doritos in his sweatpants and then is angry she doesn’t care to shave her vagina for him to use his cheesy tongue on her and mad she won’t lick his unwashed balls and she has lost the energy to be ambitious and is hopeless and had dreams but has been told they are worthless and stupid and of no value etc
I am so lucky that my clientele has significantly improved over the last 3 years, but when I had lower rates I had a lot of men that you just know that this is exactly what happened. It was the combo of not smelling fully fresh after showering and bitching that they only do this because their wives won't fuck them.... but I bet if they took cared of themselves better and spent the 200-300 they were giving SPs every week or two on taking their wife out, this wouldn't be the situation. I never will understand men who book me then call their wives gold diggers or ungrateful.

I have never understood why this was such a sensitive subject. If you don’t like high standards women, don’t date them. There are a lot of women that don’t like/want fancy things or outings. A lot of people that like simple things and to buy their own things.

I agree with you. However, given this is a male dominated web site which has a forum that men discuss topics that relate to men there are going to be a lot of mixed opinions. Opinions at either end of the spectrum or in-between.

Some of those standards are extreme of both men and women. It the way things are now and it won't change short of some type of war or apocalypse that require the sexes to need each other again. Specifically women needing men for survival.

Men need to recognize this and make a choice. Either meet those expectations or not. Is the juice worth the squeeze?

The problem is not the standards or meeting halfway.

The problem is men specifically going after women with high standards and being mad when they realize they don’t meet those standards. Why not go after a woman in your league?

The same applies to women.

Because people always want what they can't have and it's specially true in our profession.

This thread is the epitome of it. I want my 10 min back!

There are very few dissenting voices re:Ali.

Of all professions, a lawyer ranks right near the top in terms of need for proper spelling and grammar.

That was clearly not a typo and if you're going the "auto-correct" route, don't you proofread?

I think that you were spelling it phonetically. Sort of like I would of....LOL
As a person who also deal with multiple languages, I would love my English to be as good as hers.

People with high standards are wonderfully simple. Very few people clearly, concisely, and accurately convey/communicate exactly what they want and expect for free with minimal provocation, apart from those with “high standards”.

They are the easiest clients to extract value from and the easiest people to deal with in your personal life. It’s very simple, either they are for you or not…alternatively, you are either for them or not.

Either way, hardly a sensitive subject, though threads began at 4am like this one are often something else entirely.

My point holds as much as ever. She wants to be a lawyer. It is their standard that she needs to meet and they wouldn't care if it was her 8th language.

The legal profession holds their members to extremely high standards in that regard. ;)

Out of curiosity, do you definitively know whether or not English is not her first language or were just speculating.

I have never understood why this was such a sensitive subject.
There are a few factors at play here. The first is that people react badly to incongruencies: when they come across a woman that looks like Jabba the Hutt insisting that she will only date men who look like Brad Pitt and have the finances of Bill Gates, they sense that at an intuitive level, it does not add up. The reaction to this can range from avoidance, to laughter, to hostility (the normal human range of reactions to the incongruous).
The second factor at play is that disproportionately high standards are a sign of a narcissistic personality. People recognize this on an intuitive level, (they recognize that something is wrong, but can’t put their finger on exactly what). Again, reactions vary from avoidance to hostility.

Yes but I guess…just let them. If their standards are too high for what they can offer, they’ll probably never find and that’s not my problem.

Like we say in France “it’s not my back” translated from “c’est pas mon dos” meaning “it doesn’t affect me”.
