and from your same link an Exec opinion, not this is what Nylander is demanding and I heard it on the internet and google:
“Eight years, $11.5 million is fair. Touch more than Pastrnak. If you look at internal structure, he should make more than Marner and Tavares. But it will be eight years, $12 or $12.25 million, I would guess.”

Nylander will be the most sought after free agent next summer. Draisaitle, Hedman, Chychrun, Ekblad, Marner, Tavares a year later followed by McDavid in 2026.
Hmmmmm, Leafs could let Nylander walk, let Marner and Tavares walk, and sign Hedman and McDavid. McDavid and Hedman on the Leafs in 2026. Hedman and Rielly on the Leafs Blueline, McDavid and Matthews 1-2 centres, I like it, but knowing Shanny he's hell-bent on the current core 5.

Hedman may be too old by 2026 and either Ekblad and/or Chychrun will be better. We may even get McDavid earlier if he tells Edmonton that.he won’t resign. I’m sure someone will tell me to keep dreaming.
I can't see that happening, McDavid and Matthews on the same team.
Room's not big enough, too much salary tied up, it's just doubling down on a poor salary structure already in place,
which is why they can't fill out their roster properly.
Nylander will probably go, I would make room for him, but all of our top guys have NMCs.
Dubas/Shanahan got us into a pickle, giving away the farm so early in the process.
Their teams still haven't won anything. I think the Leafs won one round and the Oilers maybe also won one round.
Oilers were in the western final two years ago, otherwise known as the final four.
They've won 3 rounds in the last 2 years.
