No, Mitch. Israel is not allowed to do “whatever they want to defend themselves”. If the IDF go into Gaza and start filming themselves cutting the heads off babies there is going to be a problem. And if they just start bombing civilian targets there will also be a problem.

President Biden has made this clear by stressing the need for Israel to follow the Rules of War as they defend themselves. If they don’t it will become difficult for the US to provide Israel its unqualified support.

This particular attack by Hamas, was in planning for TWO years. The settler attacks you are referring to happened in 2023. So unless Hamas, time travelled and knew that there would be settler attacks for which they would have to respond in October 2023, you characterizing this terror attack as a response, is nonsensical.

There have been Israeli attacks on Gaza every 2-3 years since the blockade started 17 years ago.
The latest attack from Israel was in 2021.
None have lead to anything but more violence.
So why are you surprised that the indigenous population continued to plan for to resist an illegal occupation, apartheid and blockade?
