What evidence do you have to support this claim of prosecutorial ineptitude? What specific acts of DOJ incompetence are you referring to?
What specifically is it about the corruption laws that sucks? What evidence do you have that hung juries are easy to get in these cases?
Or are you just making things up (again)?
I doubt he has any evidence of prosecutorial ineptitude, but that could well be the case.
The corruption laws being fucked up though, that's real.
In fact, the Supreme Court ruling that made it basically impossible to convict for bribery and corruption without it being a sack of money with a dollar sign on it and a written statements saying "pass this bill for me" came out right around the same time as the Menendez mistrial and most people feel that's why the DOJ didn't try that first case again - a whole section of their case was explicitly taken away from them.
(That Clarence Thomas ruled that the kind of kickbacks Clarence Thomas has been getting can't be charged as bribery is surely a coincidence.)
The fact that the DOJ has brought another case against him despite the new rulings seems to show Menendez (and his wife) have been even more brazen and stupid about their corruption.
The combination of it being round 2, worse behavior and better evidence, a very different political environment in NJ, a different one nationally, and just new people in office are all combining to have the Dems be much more united in trying to pressure him out on their own instead of being far more muted (and some even supportive) as they were in 2017.
