Of course, they have no way to force him out (unless the GOP decides to help).

I would guess the thinking by the GOP is that as long as he is in the Senate, they can point to him and say, "The Dems are corrupt too, that means the trials for Trump are just a partisan witch hunt".
So they won't join the Dems in voting him out of the Senate, because they would much rather have the political tool than be seen voting against corruption or criminality.
