I'll wear that title of blasphemer with pride.

FYI, I'm not comparing the two to each other. I'm using Revera's numbers as a baseline with which to assess Romano's performance. In Riviera's 19 years, he only topped Romano's 90% save rate 6 times.
Where are you seeing the percentages?

After the current series with the Dodgers, the Jays have a favourable schedule until September 10, (Home: Angels [3], Cubs [3], Phillies [2], Guardians [3], Nationals [3], Royals [3]; Away: Red Sox [3], Guardians, [4], Rockies [3], A's [3], as well as three Away vs the Reds and two three game series against the Orioles. Several of these opponents could have weaker lineups by the time the Jays face them.

Their last eighteen games are against the Rangers, [4], Red Sox [3], six vs the Yankees, and five vs the Rays.

I can't see them adding any rental players of note, so the only help they can expect is from the injury list.

There's a chance that top prospect Ricky Tiedemann could be a factor late in the season. He last pitched for AA New Hampshire on May 4, but he did pitch in low A Florida Coast League on July 21, two perfect innings with 3 K's. Although Ricky is a starter, don't rule him out being a late inning reliever THIS year, after roster expansion.

Ricky Tiedemann minor league stats.

btw, Adam Macko, the guy acquired with Eric Swanson for Teoscar Hernandez, is having a dog shit year at Vancouver in high A, (6.20 ERA in 13 starts/ 53.2 innings. He is only 22, though, and a lefthander, so it's too early to label him a stiff.

LOL

Daulton Varsho does run like Steven Seagal. We are truly blessed to watch El Gran Capitan's blazing speed on the basepath, it's a once in a lifetime joy.

Clutch win by the Jays tonight, these are the necessary games to take if the post-season beckons. I sense that Vlady is going to go off tomorrow. He's going to return the favour to BoBochette who's going through a dry spell. The Italian/Brazilian did the same for him when Vlady was in dumps around Victoria Day.

This is stupid. Had we kept Superstar Anthony Bass we could have traded him for Ohtani.
Last I checked, Bass had a sex change and was trying to make it as a reliever in Lady's League softball. Odds are 50:50.

So much for the idea of making Swanson the closer.
Swanson is not a closer. Never has been, never will be. Though, from my understanding there was some bad luck and poor fielding backing Swanson up.

I wish they'd DFA'd Mitch White and kept Nate Pearson up. I understand White is out of options and the trade deadline is next week, but I don't think White has any trade value at this point and The Jays should be winning games when they are up by 4 runs in the 9th.

Somebody, while complaining about Romano, suggested it a few weeks ago.
The punters always complain about Romano after a blown save. And as you know there's more to a closer than stats, a closer needs to have the mindset to operate in a high pressure/leverage position and Romano excels in that role. He pitches better when there's a save on the line vs. when there's not one. Thrives on the pressure.
