Let's have a moment of empathy, grief and silence for Rougned Odor - DFA-ed by the Padres before tonight's game.

Enjoy the bus rides in AAA, assjack!!! 😹 😹 😹

It's depressing watching Alek Manoah. The talent is there, yet his belly fat is hanging over his belt, he has no stamina. He needs to spend the winter with Osmin Hernandez, former Cuban Marine. Fish, salad and water, it actually does work.

As for Rougned Odor, he can get comfy with my morning log.

Agree. The biggest Manoah issue is fitness. Speaking from experience I know how the body operates at proper weight and up 50 lbs.

Tough loss tonight, lets see what Berrios can do (and he's been really good) tomorrow.
A little too early. Manoah is a competitor, a young guy who's fallen off the rail but let us give him some time to become the 5th starter this year.

Not trying to say that there was much positive from his performance tonight, but he got screwed over several ways.

The ump really squeezed him in the 1st 2 innings today. He had 2 clear strikeouts that were called balls. They both extended innings and cost him 2 or 3 runs and an extra 25 pitches. Then the fluke play of the ball hitting the bag and bouncing over Chapman's head as well as Springer's losing the ball in the lights. Chapman also mishandled the transfer in the 3rd leaving 2 men on with no outs.

But the toughest part was seeing him give up 5 walks in 3+ innings. His control was poor but there's still hope for him.

Yes Manoah had some tough calls go against him, he didn't have the stamina to gut it out.

I know what carrying excess weight can do to your stamina. I used to weigh 266 lbs, doing something nice for the SO would get me doggy. Was lucky to get 20 strokes in before running out of gas. Now I'm at 240 (still not ideal) but at least I can serve her franks and beans for dinner.

While what you say makes sense there are many pitchers who carried excess weight and did very well despite it. Former Jays Roger Clemens and David Wells come to mind. Lets not forget Bartolo Colon either.

CC Sabathia as well.

The unknown factor of sorts is the pitch clock… that being said I’m not sure if those guys worked that slow either Where it comes into play now is a longer at bat. You get more rest in between batters. But when you get to say 6 pitches in the middle of at bat, you can no longer reset and take a bit of a break which I am sure many of the guys above did.

I think it’s at least a small part of the factor but probavly not near the biggest part of it. His slider has no bite and his command is off early in innings as well before fatigue would set in.

How could a guy who was so dominant for a year and a half seemingly lose it so suddenly. He is struggling mightily to find the strike zone.

Location, Velocity, and much Less Break on his Slider.
Just a terrible combination to have them all decline over one year.
