I'm a Habs fan. But I'm a city of Toronto fan. Greatest city in America. Yesterday you guys were robbed. Pure and simple. I'm still pissed. Leafs are the second most important club in this league yet they get snubbed by these Americans fuckers. It's really time for Toronto to fight back.

My initial thought was the Leafs were jobbed, but there is one key element to the replays that make it fairly possibly the right call (I won't say 100% either) I suggest people watch the replay from the two angles again, and focus on the Florida defender, and it becomes more clear.

If you watch the replay from behind the net, obviously your thought was that it is clearly a goal. On that replay you see the Florida defender stick his stick behind Bobrovsky at about the same time the puck clears the goal line - that is the key to establish timing purposes for the various angle replays,

Now watch the replay as it happens from in front of the net in real time. Note In particular the timing of 2 things
1) When Reilly releases the puck
2) When that Florida defender puts his stick behind Bobrovsky (that is the trigger for when the puck actually went in - we know that from the other replay)

There is a decent amount of time that lapses between #1 and #2 -- that establishes that a whistle was probably called between #1 and #2. It also clearly established that it was not Reilly's shot that cleared the line - some other action caused it to go over. We see in the time between #1 and #2 above, that Tavares jam his stick in - we also see Bobrovsky move his body around which could have also caused the puck to slide in .. if either happened after the whistle its the right call.

I'm not saying its clearly the right call. But it's also not clearly the wrong call.

We need to be honest about Auston Matthews and not get angry like some people are doing on Twitter regarding a tweet former referee Tim Peel made about #34. Tim Peel spoke the truth. Matthews is too SOFT! You need to be able to get dirty to win in the playoffs and Matthews is a princess.

Also, I must say, Leafs home ice 'advantage' was the worst out of all teams in the playoffs. The quietest arena out of all the games I've watched this postseason BY FAR. And many empty seats. Think about it. Who had a quieter arena and fans than the Leafs?

Colorado?
Seattle?
Dallas?
Minnesota?
Vegas?
Winnipeg?
Edmonton?
LA?
Boston?
Florida?
Tampa?
Carolina?
Islanders?
Rangers?
Devils?

I don't think they had a louder arena or better atmosphere than ANY of these teams. Two or three (Dallas, Carolina, New Jersey) may be debatable but it's nothing definitive.

The fans in the arena straight up SUCK.

So the play was already whistled dead before the puck crossed the line...interesting.

Considering that the Maple Leafs kick in a subsidy to help struggling teams in the NHL, including the Florida Panthers who barely sell out their arena, this is a Rikishi Stinkface to the city of Toronto. Look at Ottawa's problem finding ownership now that the Melnyk family is gone.

??? That's news to me. There are a number of groups that have showed interest and the rumoured proposed bids are coming in higher than expected.

The probable reason that Remington is out (the group where Reynolds would have been the minority "face" of the group) is that the bidding is more competitive than they initially expected.

When a team invests north of $40mm in 4 players in a salary cap era and those 4 players produce a total of 2 goals in 5 games.

Matthews is out and soon McDavid might be out too.

I'm don't consider myself the complaining type leaf fan like most but good fucking God this was a penalty.

No doubt but I can see the refs easily missing that. It happened so quickly.
Bottom line is Leafs have nobody to blame but themselves for this series loss.
The giveaways in their own zone during the 2nd and 3rd periods were atrocious.
Matthews played his best game of the series last night but Bobs owned him. Where was he for the other 4 games though?
Your best players have to play like your best players and they just didn't get the job done.
I think we've seen enough. We aren't winning with this crew.

That's news to me, who are these rumoured bids? The Senators are bleeding money to the tune of $400 million, Eugene Melnyk couldn't underwrite the team fast enough. The red ink isn't going away, then you have to hope that the citizens of Ottawa are willing to give the new owners the same sweetheart deal that Daryl Katz got in Edmonton. Taxpayers subsidizing billionaires...where have I heard that before?

Ottawa is not LA.

Please look at your original comment which I highlighted and commented on - "That they had problem finding suitors)". I'm not arguing that they are a marquee franchise, simply that they have quite a bit of interest.

The list of suitors for the Senators is about to become shortlist | Ottawa Sun (From March 10)

Sale of Ottawa Senators Nearing Completion: Potential Suitors Await Next Steps | Inside The Rink (From April 24)

I'll stop you before you move the goalposts again. An $800 million dollar or so deal not happening quickly, is not unusual, especially when you are trying to play off multiple parties. That being said the loss of Remington in the process, likely cost them some negotiation power.

What are the Leafs intention for Matt Murray and his $4.7 million cap hit next year?
1. Hope he goes on LTIR.
2. Trade 2nd round pick+ to get rid of him
3. Buy him out at a cap hit of 1.6 million in 23/24, and 1.6 million in 24/25.

ACC was a LIBRARY in every home game. Leafs fan base might be one of the most overrated in all sports sad to say but it's the truth.

I hated this goal too…. What can you do? The Leafs are not built for “put the whistle away” hockey…. They need power plays and open ice.
Even the 1960-1970's Montreal Canadiens who were built for speed and skill had their tough playoff hockey players like John Ferguson. Show me where they are on the Toronto roster.

Hearing post collapse interview comments from Matthews, Marner and Rielly reminded me of the Muskoa 5 :

: “ we have a great group of guys, we love, trust and have confidence in each other etc. etc…“

Keefe : “ we lost the series in the first three games.“ I‘m now convinced that what Keefe said after game 4 was a back door criticism of the core players‘ performance of the first three games.

When you’re among the highest paid players in the league, giving an honest effort is not good enough, you have to produce enough to help the team win. Tavares and Matthews failed miserably.

Tavares and Matthews: $22.64 million in salary, 5 game series, 0 goals; Leafs 0/2 on the power play last night.

Mitch Marner last night: "Yeah, we all got years left on our contracts...we got a lot of belief in this group. We got a lot of belief in that core."

I think the best thing to do is keep the core players together and change the coach. Keefe is a good coach, but I think he has taken the team as far as he can with his style of coaching. I'd like to see Joel Quenville coach them, if the NHL allows him back.

No way that’s a penalty, Gudas just drove to the net which is his what he’s supposed to do, he probably distracted Woll a bit in the process and that was the key to the goal being scored.

Those Habs teams had two generational defensemen: Serge Savard and Larry Robinson. The Leafs haven't had a superstar defenseman since Borje Salming. I still contend that in the 2015 draft they should have selected Noah Hanifan not Mitch Marner.

The Wrath of the Urinating Tree...I thought he was Canadian, he's from Pittsburgh.

Oddly enough Nylander was the one that most complained about and he ended up being the best of them all.
