Regardless of what service he comes up with I ain't payin. I am just there to follow escorts and troll a few right wingers lol.First, Twitter was running smoothly before Musk took over. I never said it was perfect. And, to be honest, I haven't personally seen an increase in hate speech. Now, that can be because I don't follow the most vile accounts (though I do follow a lot of right-wingers). But the reality here is that Musk has fucked up. And I think he realizes it. He wants to treat the workforce like serfs, and force them to do what ever he wants.
As for the tech mass layoffs....Yes, they do happen. Usually there is a time where management decides where to make the cuts. Because the damage of cutting too deeply can be felt for years. And....Musk did that. I mean, he took control and a week later fired half the staff. Do you really think successful companies just cut headcount like that? Yes, the numbers might be large, but they usually are targeted. These....weren't. And, when you lose people with institutional knowledge about why and how systems work....that is very difficult to replace. So, what does that mean? Well, over time, systems will break down. It will take those who remain at Twitter longer to figure out what the issues are. Improvements to the site/apps will take longer. Moderators will be over worked, which means bad content will stay up longer and maybe get spread farther. I'm not really talking about child pornography, but hate speech or people posting movies online. That will piss off more advertisers, and as systems fall apart, users will get fed up.
This is business 101. Nobody is saying Musk shouldn't have cut staff. But there was no plan. And, as far as we can tell...Musk still doesn't have a plan. Yes, he wants to somehow make Twitter into a payment servicing app...and now there is talk about video chat and what not...We'll see what actually works...and if there are enough users left to actual make it profitable.
The only reason the DAU for twitter has gone up is because people are curious or triggered/outraged. Not sure when people will lose interest and deactivate their accounts.
