To those of you who filed your income tax return after April 19th online, have
you received your assessment already? I filed it late and wonder if I have to wait
till the strike is over to find out if I can get a refund.

Thanks for the reply.

I used CloudTax. Not an acknowledgement but at least
I can tell my tax submission was received from checking
into my CRA account.

Should've done it sooner, your going to be waiting a long time for that return now.

Thankfully I did it on the 6th. I got my refund a week ago, weirdly on a Sunday night.

Poor guy. I made about the same and got back about $12k.
Wait really? How come? I mean was 108K after taxes? Or may be because you dont have expenses and invested everything?

No, it was actually a little lower than 108k but before taxes. But unless you are talking about RRSP's, how would investing everything result in a larger return?

As for how I did it, I planned for it. Take advantage of everything available and remember that you don't get a big return by trying to figure it out in February. They call it tax PLANNING for a reason.
No I get that, but my point is how is a 12K return possible with a 108K income before taxes?

What did you specifically avail of? If it wasn't RRSP investments, what else did you use to get that kind of return with that kind of pay?

I had to pay tax installments quarterly during the year.

He just paid too much through the year.
Gave the government a tax free loan.
Nice guy.

Does anyone know if you can write off Viagra for medical expenses? I talked to an advisor they said telemed/telehealth appointments can be written off for medical expenses but I didn't want to ask about Viagra prescription specifically. From what I heard it's not covered by insurance.

I also filed through Netfile last week and received an NOA.

Old fashioned - mailed the paper return the day before they were due. Got the modest refund, a few K, which I was expecting yesterday.
