You can say the difference shouldn't be a lucky bounce, but fact remains, crappy teams often beat much better ones. The Blackhawks have also won games against the Predators, Blues and Capitals this year. Believe it or not, missing those three makes a difference. It was also Mrazek's first game in a while coming off injury. Take the 2 points and move on.
... and Seattle has beaten Washington, Carolina and Florida.

Not too much to complain about in that game against Edmonton. I love it when they shut down Draisaitl and McDavid. The number 1 & 2 scoring leaders.

Nick Ritchie experiment slowly winding down. Winger has been placed on waivers for the purposes of placing him on the taxi squad. This would seem to be a good time for a fresh start somewhere else.

I remember the day of the Leafs first game against the Habs, I was listening to Overdrive on the way home and the topic was
how could the Leafs fill the hole on Matthews' line with Hyman leaving.
O'Neill actually said that Ritchie looked revitalized and if he could come up with 25 goals and 50 points, they wouldn't miss Hyman.
I thought O'Neill was the one guy that would always keep it real.

So Leafs pick up Kyle Clifford, and Ilya Mikheyev will be back healthy in a few weeks. On an already crowded roster, who winds up without a chair, and how does that potentially affect the team's chemistry?
Ritchie who has underperformed with only 2 assists in 17 games.

I thought that they might reduce Ritchie's playing time to platoon with Clifford but they didn't even want his reduced minutes.

It wasn't Ritchie who actually wound up odd man out. Since my post in November, Ritchie played in every game to date but the Dec 14th 5-1 Win over EDM. It appears he just didn't do enough to warrant staying on the roster with only 1 goal and seven assists in 30 games. Squandered the opportunity. At $2.5M for next season, I don't expect him back next year, and only as an injury replacement this year. Better, cheaper talent available among those behind him.

In a way you're correct. You talked about someone having to be benched. He sunk lower than that.

(y)

If nobody claims him are the Leafs still on the hook for the $2.5M?

Only 3 games to go until mid-season. Based on Leafs play to date, is this the roster they stick with to make a deep playoff run? As of Feb 1, there will be 21 games until the trade deadline on Mar 21st. That's a lot of games, but if you need to make any changes, how long do you wait to pull the trigger?

Maybe the team astrologer can tell Dubas when a good time/day will be.

Or maybe, like any really good GM, he looks at his team and is perpetually unsatisfied until he has a roster that actually wins a cup. His full time job is to be constantly looking at his team with a critical eye to assess 'Good enough, or no?' If the answer is 'good enough', I guess what he's saying is 'We're going with the horses we have.' If not, he's ALWAYS looking around seeing what he can do to make the team better.

I simply asked if anyone wanted to speculate on weather or not Dubas is looking now, or if he thinks he needs more time to determine if he actually needs to or not.

He better be looking for defence.
