No one wants a lockdown but sadly the full lockdown has proven to be the most effective way to reduce cases. The failed methods have been the half-assed policies that made exemptions for backers and the desire to get rid of restrictions too early for the sake of image.

If we had a worldwide program of vaccination early enough, the chance of variants would be miniscule and covid would essentially be gone. We did it with polio. There are remote areas where polio still spreads but a widespread vaccination program made it essentially a non-issue.

Buckle in kids, because the Covid bullshit train we currently riding will likely go most of the 2020’s.
As future variants are not predictable, we should probably invest in increased ICU capacity. The Space, equipment, and personnel. I would even consider remote locations to reduce risk of community transmission from these facilities. China built an emergency hospital in 3 days. Just saying.

The problem is people are using the tests as a excuse to go out and party. Taking multiple unneeded tests just to socialize. Also some test hoarding happening just like TP.

I am not suggesting we do it in 3 days. But I am saying start yesterday. I don’t want to get caught in another wave where ICU’s do fill up’ and we need tents outside.
They take it before to give themselves permission to go out and party. In larger crowds at Air Bnb, and house parties. As well as other venues. People need them to work, to keep family members safe, to visit old age homes, etc. But I overheard 2 on the bus making their plans. And they are a microcosm.
Im not going to rely on testing. I'm isolating, vaxxed, limiting contact, just like before.
