This is a picture perfect why ideologists make poor parliamentarians. There is a bill on the table for 1.5 trillion that will pass with bipartisan support. OR they can ram through the 3.5 trillion bill on a partisan ticket, only to be gutted in the next Congress by the Republican majority. Pelosi has no.mandate for this having lost 12 seats and needing a tie breaker in the Senate. Least of all she has no mandate nor the political capital to ram the 2500 page bill through the Congress, even with the support of her president. Instead, the Democrats are tearing themselves apart and galvanizing the Republicans for the next year's vote. Stupid.
LOL. They are not moderate. They are conservative. That is not up for debate. They may try to frame what they're doing as being moderate, but it really isn't. Also, it's not like it's $3.5T every year. It's over a decade. And it's still a fraction of what they're spending on the military, even without two wars. Plus, there is so much crumbling infrastructure in the US that it will become a greater problem as time goes forward. They really can't afford to let it get much worse. I mean, Flint, MI, is a great example where lead is in the drinking water due to shitty pipes. And the reality is, there are other cities and towns that are probably worse off.
Inflation isn't necessarily a bad thing. You need it for economic growth. And I've wondered where the inflation has been for the past decade. I mean, we've had historically low interest rates since 2008, plus a record amount of quantitative easing. As this point it just feels like spin to try and hobble this legislation that the wealthy do not want (since they'll be taxed more), or the drug companies (who will be forced to lower prices), or environmentally unfriendly energy companies (who will face carbon pricing and a push to alternative, cleaner energies).
What does "crumbling babysitting" and "crumbling state college admissions" like like, exactly?
So it was alright when the GOP rammed through Trump's damaging tax cuts that did nearly nothing for the middle class? The right LOVES to obstruct any democratic president's agenda. They've done it since Clinton. They are the biggest hypocrites on the planet. They don't care about spending or deficits when Bush or Trump were running the show. So, why should democrats be bi-partisan? They won the presidency, gained seats in the senate and control the house. If they were smart, they would kill the filibuster, pass this bill and the voting rights bill to protect POC from being disenfranchised.

Studies show that when there is affordable childcare, it gets women back into the workforces. That is very good for the economy. Putting money into the education system is also sort of a no-brainer. Think about how many people graduate with ridiculous debt because of the for-profit school system. I sometime feel that you think there should be a stricter class structure. Like, the poor only get subsistence wages where they pump out kid after kid to toil in Walmart, while the rich should never have to see them...
How does babysitting crumble? Do the babysitters (so called Early Childhood Educators) begin to disintegrate? Or, Lord have mercy, is it the children themselves!

Uh, the Bank of Canada as has the FED in the US, has been purchasing government debts issues for years in a process called Quantative Easing, which is more commonly known as PRINTING MONEY.
The B of C has been buying $4billion of Canadian gov't bonds for a year and change and currently holds $250billion of newly issued gov't debt related to covid economic/societal stability.
Facts is many govt's worldwide have and continue to engage in this type of PRINTING MONEY.
Senators don't have districts. She represents the interests of her state and the U.S. in general. She's one of the few reasonable Democrats in Congress.

You're right, of course. My bad. And I agree. Senators have an unique role and it's nice to see a Senator to rise above the herd and mere partisanship. When McCain was doing the same thing(also from Arizona) he was the toast of the town, even celebrated as "maverick ". Seems like the shoe's on the other foot, now.
