It's just supposition, but I believe they have been rejected in general. Normally these people come off as very socially awkward, have a hard time making and keeping friends, and also romantic partners. Social isolation can do terrible things to people. Then they go online and find solace in groups full of hate, often for women or society in general. These groups tell them that it's not their fault, that the pain they're feeling is the result of the evil of others. That they deserve better. They deserve that high social status they've always craved but never been able to get. They deserve sex and power. Then it gets warped into this misogynistic mess of blaming women for their woes, and believing women should be subservient to them. That the natural balance is out of order.
It's just a gradual warping of the mind, of someone vulnerable to it.

Yes, it might not be intentional but that is a malicious accusation. 'Responsibility' suggests that that the people carrying the COVID virus had knowledge and control over the infection and spread of the virus. They were just the start of a relay race of an infectious virus. The Chinese were solely responsible for contaminating the world ?? They sacrificed thousands of their own to ensure the spread ?? Like the Black Plague - COVID would have made it's way around the world eventually. The Spanish Flu origins were the US where it was transported by their own troops , mutated to a stronger virus (as COVID is doing) and returned with the troops to inflect more in the US & the world. No one country is immune from the origin when a virus leaps to humans. With air travel - any contagious disease will spread quickly. That is the reality facing all countries. That is why so much effort is put in fighting diseases at the origin - not waiting until they land in your country.
If you would like to look for responsibility - look to those politicians who had/have the control to prevent wide spread infection and for economic or political gains - facilitated the death of more innocent victims. Ditto the anti-maskers. Rather than innocent victims - put responsibility on those that have control but ignore it.
