10 earned runs allowed...
Other Toronto Blue Jays pitchers who have given up at least 10 earned runs in a start:

David Wells 13
Roy Halladay 11
Pat Hentgen 11
Brian Tallet 10
Dustin McGowan 10
Giovanni Carrera 10
Dave Stewart 10
Luis Leal 10

Doc, efficient as always, did it in 2.1 innings, only 68 pitches
Stewart 1.2 innings, only 70 pitches
Hentgen took one for the team, going 8 innings

Magic Number

With only a little over 1/3 of the seasons gone, the Jays have whittled their magic number down to a microscopic 123.

All-Star game

They have to take at least one player, but is anyone worthy based on this year's stats?

Vlad has only 114 career AB's and is batting under .250 (maybe for the HR Derby).
Stroman with a 3-7 record, albeit with an ERA around 2.8.
Giles?

Only Stro and Giles are worthy. It will probably be Giles though

Precisely why a pitcher's Won/Loss record should carry very little to no weight when evaluating his skills/effectiveness.

Domingo German (NYY) has an ERA of 3.66, and is 9-1.

Marcus Stroman's WAR for 2019? 2.0 Domingo German's WAR? 0.9

Edwin Jackson should be a football player, with an ERA of 13.42 he knows how to score touchdown.

Jays are now dead last in position player FWAR at -0.3. We are even worse than the Marlins and Orioles

The MLB draft starts today, Toronto picks 11th.
They haven't had much success at #11 over the years (have selected 11th twice).
1 player taken (by A.A. and his crew) never played a game in MLB.
The other was traded 3? times, ended up with a couple cups of coffee in MLB, including with Toronto, when they reacquired him.

The Toronto Blue Jays today selected RHP Alek Manoah from West Virginia University.
The 21 year old is 6'6", 260 lbs.
From scouting reports he has a 97 mph fastball, slider and change up.
Control of his pitches is the biggest question mark, concern.

Sounds impressive, even for a #11. ;) It seems like he could also play linebacker.

Toronto's 2nd pick (#52?) is an 18 year old high school RH pitcher, 6'6" 208, Kendall Williams.
He has a commitment to Vanderbilt, it will take some $$$ to change his mind.

Just need to wait at least 3 or 4 years for him. He could be the final piece in year 8 of shapeero's rebuild.

If the Jays don't look like they're ready to turn the corner by next year, I can't imagine these two will be around for much longer.
