Here
Cecil still looking very shaky.
I am starting to feel for the guy. He looked good as a 1st round pick and had good stats in 2010 as a starter and as a reliever in 2013 and 2014... though erratic at times.

Now, he has become quite hittable and has very poor control... he can't throw strikes and walks too many; at the rear of the bullpen you have to throw strikes!

Unfortunately, he is tugging my memories of Romero...

OTOH, the BJ's have been playing much better ball than I have seen in quite some time and are showing that they do have plenty of talent... let's hope they can stay consistent, win or lose.

Don't think bringing Cecil in today was part of the most recent plan. I think the plan was to drop him down to early inning relief to take pressure off him. Things just didn't play out as planned. I did not see todays game but the box score shows a hit and 2 walks, not good, but he did eventually get the job done. I agree he is scary when he comes in with the game on the line. If they do get to bring him in early, lets hope that is a confidence builder or he is pretty much toast!
I too like the way they have been playing. Bats are usually very good, defense decent, starters better than expected, but the bullpen is still scary. Need 1 or 2 more quality reliable pitchers. A starter and a reliever or 2 relievers and then they should be good to go. Problem is finding the pitchers, and if and when you do what will you have to give up to get them.
Jays signed Johan Santana and I hoped we would have had at least some word on him by now, but other than someone posting on here, NOTTA! Guess he ain't gonna git her done!
And one more thing, everyone needs to stay healthy!:)

O's and Bo's tonight. Boston sends out Clay Bucholtz, who is inconsistent. And O's send out our old buddy, Norris with his 7.57 ERA. I am thinking Sox have a chance to take the rubber match.

Thanks...foot infection....again little to go on, still don't know if he has even progressed to throwing from the mound. Looks as if he maybe done.
Santana could help, but hardly a saviour.

It's nice to see the Jays finally winning some 1 run nailbiters. Too many of those losses can be demoralizing but lately they've been winning their share as opposed to April and May where they lost seemingly every close game.

Anybody see Donaldson's diving catch 3 rows deep?

Frustrating as fuck!

Estrada pitches a gem and the hitters keep stranding base runners. If the Rays cheese out a win it's season over.
A tad dramatic don't you think?

I was worried the Jays would get swept 3 straight games in Tampa; so, this series was a nice surprise.

I hope AA can sign Estrada to an extension. I was expecting Estrada to be a run of the mill middle reliever; but, he' been a nice find as a starter.
After today's game Estrada has an era of 3.45 which is probably what a lot of people were hoping Marcus Stroman would do.

I've heard either Felix Doubront or Matt Boyd down in Buffalo will start on Saturday and take over the number 5 spot from Scott Copeland. I'm hoping it's Matt Boyd because I want to see what he can do.
Felix Doubront has always been a run of the mill 5 starter and it would be a million times more exciting to go with the tabula rasa of Matt Boyd.
When we traded for Estrada I fully expected he'd be in the middle of the rotation. Yes he's an extreme flyball pitcher in a hitter's park but he has good stuff and can miss bats. I certainly didn't expect back to back gems like he's put up. Consider this icing on the cake.
I think of AA can get another starter and another bullpen arm at the deadline the Jays should be contenders to the end. Nobody touches our offense.

That catch is on everyone's hilite reel, friggin' awesome!

When I first saw the Santana signing I was hoping he could get back in shape and become the five starter, as I read more I realized that wasn't going to happen, but maybe he could give you a couple of innings of relief, now I'm thinking BP pitcher, maybe! This is almost July and there is nothing that indicates he is close to even pitching in the minors.

Agree it is nice to win those games Some of the losses have been hard to watch. Posted this before, it has to be difficult for the sluggers to watch a lead
be thrown away by the bullpen. Jamie Campbell keeps wanting to see a 1-0 win, well. he finally got it and it took 12 innings to do it.

You will see in the coming weeks how important this game was.

The Jays have crossed their Rubicon, now they can make a serious run at the playoffs. The Rays are weak offensively and the Yankees are too reliant on brittle players. It's will be between the Jays and and the O's

It's going to get poisonous. Carpe deum to all.

So I taped today's game as I'm on midnight and was sleeping. Set the timer for 4 hours. So glad I did!

Loved the Donaldson catch. Plays like that really make a team come together even though it was for naught.

This team, despite its issues is gelling. I feel really good they can make a run of it.

Cant wait till A-roid tests positive for the latest PED again.

That will take the sting out of the Yankees season

Actually, Yanks are really raking right now and A-Roid, Tex, McCann and Gardner are all hot. Yanks pitching has looked shaky lately though. As we saw, O's have great hitting too. O's have 3 excellent starters and 2 disaster starters and a lights out Pen. As we saw.

The AL East is reclaiming its position as the premier division in baseball after a slow start.

How exactly will you relate this particular game to what happens in the future?
The statement you made about them not scoring runs for Estrada actually is still true-Estrada was great and they didn't score for him. That doesn't change just because they ahd a huge offensive explosion in the 12th. If not scoring was a problem after 9 innings, it is still a problem. One win out of a necessary 90 or so wins over the course of 6 month is only that-one win. It is as important and as valuable as every other win.
It's June, and we have people on this thread watching the scoreboard on a daily basis and commenting as if the season is hinging on every pitch right now. It's a long season. There will be ups and downs and momentum swings. The last up or down is what matters. June is June. The games are all important but it's not close to do or die time

Inside information?

Inside your head only?

You don't have to make a post every time the little bulb lights up.

Update-no score in Jays game today because they are not playing. Will update later as things move along.

When was the last time Alex Rodriguez tested positive for PED usage?
