I believe that Phils have already taken the first 2 of 3. Going for the sweep today. Oagre hopes for the big Yanks' fold that he has predicted in this thread to actually come about.
Yes the Phils won the first two. I was wondering if anyone saw that coming as I sure didn't. Sweep for the Phils with a Jays win today and a Red Sox win tonight would be awesome.

ok, i rested last nights game. My post on Monday was about 3 regulars being rested against the Rays 5th starter. I wonder if any other manager trying to win a pennant has done that. I am glad that the risk he took did not backfire. I also know that Martin had to catch last night because of the knuckleballer (although it looks like Martin really is having problems catching the thing).

Also, I for one, have never said Gibbons is a "f*** up" . For one thing, I do not use curse words in my writing and very rarely in my speaking. My problem with Gibbons is that he takes and accepts losing way too easily. I can't picture him managing in the post season and mistakes that I doubt Showalter or Cash Or Girardi would tolerate...seem to be tolerated by Gibbons. We need an intense manager who will not accept losing and will not risk it with his line up choices.

I am also sure that Pete walker is a wonderful man, but again I see no credentials that will make better pitchers (however a case could be made for the improvement in Estrada).

Also some questioning about third base coach Rivera. Is it just me or a lot of runners stopping at third with 2 out? The chance of a man scoring from third with 2 out is about 30%. The chance of challenging arms is greater (discuss). The tying run stopped at third last night. Yes it was Navarro, but even he could score if the throw is off and so many of them are.

And by the way, gents, I do take my baseball with a grain of salt and a little humour...but I want to see us win! Tell them Kathleen

Sabathia got beaten up again - as usual - last night. And their "superstar" new reliever, Betances got hit up for 4 earnies in a single inning. Hahahaha! Fuck the Yankees!

Pillar the best defensive player in baseball??
I cant think of anyone who's better
He has been great in getting to a lot of balls. His arm is a little erratic. But even the BJ announcers were saying last night that Kiermaier of the Rays is the best cf. And the Dodgers have a cf who has really impressed

Frustrating as fuck!

Estrada pitches a gem and the hitters keep stranding base runners. If the Rays cheese out a win it's season over.

Why would it be season over? That's crazy to say
It's all in the analytics busterhut.

If your pitcher almost throws a no-no and you cant support him since you're incapable of playing small ball, the mistakes magnify. As the season goes on the games get tougher. If they lose this game the mistakes will become more frequent.

I am tempted to say you don't really understand baseball.

The BJ's have been playing some very consistent, quality baseball. You have to temper your "analytics" with the thought that winning 6 out 10 over a 162 game season is considered to be excellent baseball.

What you say may make sense of a soccer team, but not baseball.

Relief, Jays win. Il Bello carpe deum.

Perry I sincerely hope that this Statistics nerd gets proven wrong. The Jays needed that one!

Btw, if you have not seen Rear Window, you are not entitled to your handle.

Adam Jones is a superior centerfielder to Pillar.

It seems you're using an awfully small sample size to decree a 162 game season over,
should Toronto lose 1 particular game in June.

Excellent logic. However, if Tampa can't play small ball well enough to prevent Marco Estrada from nearly throwing a no hitter, the same logic would dictate that their season is over. In a game where success is often less common than failure, you need to understand the stats. There is no statistical backgound for what you said. If there is find it. I was on the sabermetrics bandwagon when Bill James was a pioneer, writing his Baseball Abstract annually years ago. I understand the stats. I don't think you do.

Hehehehe!

Colabello the God-Seizer! Or since he's Italian, the God-Caesar. But then, Caesar was always defined as a God in Ancient Rome.

Your posts are getting sillier all the time. Try being a fan instead of an analyst. You are failing miserably at the latter. Chill.

Maybe not posting in the sports forum for all of October (after Sanchez does not throw a no-no) may help you to control your whacky exhortations.

Season over if they lose!

I was worried the Jays would get swept 3 straight games in Tampa; so, this series was a nice surprise.

I hope AA can sign Estrada to an extension. I was expecting Estrada to be a run of the mill middle reliever; but, he' been a nice find as a starter.
After today's game Estrada has an era of 3.45 which is probably what a lot of people were hoping Marcus Stroman would do.

I've heard either Felix Doubront or Matt Boyd down in Buffalo will start on Saturday and take over the number 5 spot from Scott Copeland. I'm hoping it's Matt Boyd because I want to see what he can do.
Felix Doubront has always been a run of the mill 5 starter and it would be a million times more exciting to go with the tabula rasa of Matt Boyd.
