here here. and a better manager too
Strongly-disagree. Gibby has zero direct impact on the pitching (other than bullpen management which he is good at).

He's an easy scapegoat though....

happ was in the bullpen at this time last year, (heard he's doing well in Seattle thus far). People were furious at the thought of Sanchez in the bullpen... He is pitching as was predicted: little control... Hutch has been disappointing- that's not on the manager.

stroman would've been in his first full year. as much as I adore him- there were no guarantees with him either. That's certainly not on Gibby- and not even on Alex. AA set the jays up for years to come- I hope he keeps his job. Gibby has worked what he's been given- it's not his job to teach pitchers how to throw the ball. Pete Waller- I'm more willing to listen.... End of the day- from what I've heard, Gibbons is the perfect manager to deal with the young team we have.

Listen to what guys who've played for Gibbons say. (Hint-it's all positive)

It's may 1. our division is close. I'm not interested in calling for anyone's head.

Wow, Norris sent down is a bit of a surprise after he pitched 3 scoreless innings yesterday.

I hope this Albers guy is any good

I really like Norris, but those were three pretty brutal innings he threw. He had no idea where the ball was going a lot of the time, and was incredibly lucky not to get scored on. I really hope all he needs is a bit of a tune-up in AAA, because there have been times that his pitching has been very very good. For whatever reason he's really inconsistent now.

With Albers called up they now have 5 Canadians on the club. :)

Albers is already 29 years old. So unless he's come up with some amazing new pitch or a knuckleball, I doubt he'll be any good. We shall see

Albers did well in spring training. I was watching him closely... That-said, he tended to come in when the starters had already finished. Weather conditions have been bad in Buffalo- tough for hitters... So it's really hard to judge AAA pitching right now...

Kinda cool to have another Canadian for sure.

I don't know much about him but I know he pitched in Korea for a year and didn't do well bc they have a different way of pitching there.

It's too early to make a big trade but if there was ever a good time for an addition to the rotation, it's now. I hope they don't give too much away to get someone. We don't need a star- just someone average. He will have run support.....

Norris ' 3 clean innings last night were messy. We are lucky Cleveland was scoreless.

Hopefully he's back soon. He's a baby though..... We will see how buerhle does today. He's not pitching well but he's had serious run support.... Now that Norris is out of the rotation- Sanchez really needs to step up.

There are a lot of holes in our rotation eh?

Argh

A few people mock me bc I love Dickey. Who's our best pitcher right now?

ya- Dickey

Looks like Buehrle might have trouble getting to 200 innings this year the way he's throwing this year.
Seems like the team needs to score 8 runs every game to have any chance of winning.

Maybe they can start a hockey team!

The Blue Jays right now are in first place in all of MLB for total runs scored and they're also in first place for all 30 teams for total runs allowed.

This pitching staff may be on a pace to be the worst pitching staff in the 39 year history of the team.
Right now an average of 5.17 runs per game are scored against the Jays.
In 1977, the expansion team starting from scratch averaged 5.07 runs per game against. (822 runs against over 162 games.)

He did not lose it, he never had it!

Those of you who say the manager has nothing to do with player performance because he doesn't pitch, catch or hit, are missing the point because you think the manager is just surplusage.

Since Gibby came back to the Jays he has had lots of talented players, very few of whom performed to reasonable expectations. Do you really think that is mere coincidence?

I feel like the Toronto-Buffalo Greyhound is going to be a lot busier over the next little while...

Poor Pompey - he looks so damn *tentative* at the plate and in the field lately. Contrast that to the end of last year, when he looked confident and had success (recall bias, I was at the game where he hit two triples). I hope he and Norris both get it back together in a hurry.

I hope Pompey has a great career, and for starters does well in Buffalo. But he is at least a year or two away from being a major leaguer.

Jays with a big lead late in the game but Sanchez walks another six. He's not going to last long walking guys one after the other. Eventually it's going to catch up to him.

Nice win today that will give Sanchez some confidence in his next game.

14 hits, up and down the line-up. Nice to see Bautista, Encarnation and Martin heating up with multiple hits.
