The other point is though that we need arms more than we need Navarro. So the pressure is going to be on AA to deal Navarro, unless he pulls a few rabbits of the pitching staff's hat in spring training.
We need arms .. They gave Happ away in a trade ..

Maybe in the bullpen where most importantly Jays need Delabar to find his form again. Also sounds like Estrada or Norris for the 5th SP, allowing Sanchez to stay in the bullpen.

Lots of young pitching prospects for the Jays either now reaching MLB level, or just behind. AA might therefore judge 2nd base is a bigger need but he's leaving it late.

Not surprising if only nosebleeds are left.

Credit to Montreal ball fans.
My tickets for the Montreal games arrived in the mail today. Really looking forward to that road trip!

Here
As things stand right now, I think Estrada and Delabar are the keys to the pitching staff.

I am rooting for Delabar. Even though he had some hiccups, he was very good in 2013!

Estrada could be a very good 4th or 5th starter. That means Sanchez and Cecil alternating as set up and closer and Norris first call up at Buffalo.

I also think this will be a make or break year for Jenkins, and he might surprise. He has shown pretty good skills and, I think, just needs security and steady work. Drabeck is in a very similar situation: hard to believe he is not a major league talent.

The Jays are not short on talent, just short on getting performance from the talents that they have.

Jays new outfielder we gave up for Happ .. Gone until allstar break with injury . Sanders steps
on a sprinkler head ..

Confused that Wildner says no big deal cause he would have had little impact . So you gave up a starting pitcher for a outfielder who has a no big deal label if he isn't in the lineup

Do I understand that he hit a sprinkler in the outfield. What kind of field are they exposing people to? unbelievable

are Jays hiding something .. Did this injury occur before camp and they are trying to protect Sanders .. The type of injury reported is a 3 to 4 week recovery period ..

I highly doubt that. He has been running around for a few weeks. He was one of the first players to arrive
Apparently he was very upset when talking to the media today. They are hopeful he won't need until the All-Star break but he does need surgery.

Baseball fields are full of dangers. Next, some guy will hurt himself walking down a flight of dugout stairs and be gone for the season.

I stated in another BJ thread that signing Saunders was a mistake. Chronic underachiever who seems to get hurt every year. The Mariners GM publicly called him out last year for his inability to stay healthy.

Terrible news. We were already thin in the OF with Pompey slated for CF. Now it's Jose, Pillar and Pompey as the starting 3.

Guys on Blubirdbanter not too bothered. They still have Dirks (recovering from injury), Carrera, Pillar and Dickerson.

The worst part about saunders' injury is the loss of a strong left handed bat. Anyone who thinks Navarro is going to be traded anytime soon is silly-wrong right now.

More than ever, we need his switch hitting bat.
In terms of lefties we now have Reyes (switch), Navarro (switch), and Pompey (switch).

Saunders once hit two home runs in one game at "Skydome". This park will eventually be great for his average.

I am not sad to see Lind or Ramus gone... But we are VERY limited in terms of left handed bats now.
