Sanchez brutal in today's opener.
Actually, he got a bad call on a pitch that should have been the 3rd strike and 3rd out. The Bucs scored 3 runs after that. Of the 5 runs he gave up, only 2 were earned. Brutal.

Yes not a good start for the rook. But hey it's the first game of spring training and he was up against all the heavy hitters in Pirates lineup. He still projects to be a future ace with an arsenal of plus pitches.

What concerns me the most right now is 2nd base. Goins is just not MLB caliber. I think AA should go out and acquire Derek Dietrich from the Marlins. With their off season acquisitions of Dee Gordon and Martin Prado Dietrich is the odd man out. He projects to be a decent hitter with some pop but his defense is mediocre at best. Probably wouldn't cost much.

It's very early but it also seems third may need a little work. Plenty of time though.

I think most agree that Gibbons is a way below average manager.....and then must ask why he is still employed. I know its just the first spring training game, but there he is looking totally nonchalant.

During his first term as manager...I thought his strength was knowing exactly when to pull a pitcher and who to bring in....now thats questionable.

We need an up and comer or maybe a recently retired player who went to the world series a few times. A Jason Veritek or that guy with the funny batting stance who got a lot of walks and played for the red sox (going crazy trying to remember his name). In short, a winner who wants to be in the world series. Keep Hale as bench coach to help with the moves.
are you thinking of Kevin Youkalis?

Hm, hm... Youkilis!

Youkalis would be a citizen of the magical island, Youkali, from a tango habanera composed by Kurt Weill. :)

So far spring training and the Jays have been one big yawn! Starters look decent, bullpen OK or better, closer?????

What's Colby Rasmus carrying on about?

Caroline Cameron has a cold heart, she said His Adorableness is not her boy. Poor A-Roid, he's probably devastated.

Only Perry could mix baseball and Weill. lol

Man, you are in so much shit from Jennifer right now!
:). (I needed that smile today....)

Kawasaki should not be playing up here as much as he has the past two seasons.

He is an asset however when used minimally.

Isturis will start at 2nd and so far he's proving me right when I complained everyone forgot about him.

I'm pretty-devestated.

I can't really try to be positive because I'm too disappointed right now :(

That-said:

One pitcher does not make a winning team. We do have internal candidates that can, (and hopefully will) step up. Norris, Osuna, Jenkins, Castro, Estrada, Santana...

It's not like Boston has a solid rotation... Not even close...

Sanchez will get his starting position now. Hutchison has been my pick to be the team's best pitcher this year since last year.

If AA wants to keep his job, he will find a way....

The season is not over.
