according to Sportsnet.ca...the love affair is over.....................now if we can turn this thread into a bash Sid Seixeiro thread i,ll be all ears..lol
"Shuddup for a minute"

DO NOT bash Sid. Ever....

i love Sid,tim is a useless tool,he only wants to talk about 1 sport and 1 sport only--basketball(the worst of the big north american 4)
we all know he is borderline white
tim is back on tuesday--watch & retch for yourselves as he turns most sports convos back to basketball--he tries too hard to be "urban"
... well I listened today - I listen every day. If my memory is accurate... basketball got the last segment of the day.

(sorry - I am very protective of them :) I don't know what I'm going to do without them being on fan590 after March 27)

Actually, I was taking a gentle dig. Last year she predicted that, and I forget the exact wording, Francisco was going to be a big star.
... Delayed reply. I just saw this lol.

I deserve the dig. I was very wrong (but he is no longer our problem. :) I didn't anticipate him being a "big star" but I did think he had the potential to turn things around as a power hitter a la EE and Bautista.)

I think Francisco has/had the power but not the brains!

Yes, folks, baseball players need brains too... well, at least some!

The Jays signed two players today.

They came to terms on a minor league contract with relief pitcher Ron Belisario, 32, right off the designated for assignment heap. His ERA last year was over 5, with saves barely outnumbering his blown saves.

Also signed was utility infielder Ramon Santiago, 35, who was proficient at short, but average at second and third. His career batting average of .243 would not strike fear or trepidation in the heart of any major league pitcher.

At least, Anthopoulos was working on something.

Great, a few more Latin guys on the team, except like Estrada earlier, they're all fringe major leaguers.

The Belisario deal just fell through per Sportsnet and various other sources. How can signing up a washed-up pitcher that was designated for assignment to a minor league contract possibly fall through? Anthopoulos has been dinged several times, most notably by current free agent Johan Santanna last spring. He has tighten up his negotiating skills.

He might have failed his physical, that's one reason why deals fall apart.

I also heard Mike Wilner on fan590 earlier suggesting he may have realized his chances of closing (or even making the team) may not be great. Also he could have offers from a big league team (as opposed to the minor league deal he was going to sign).

I doubt AA did anything wrong.

why did they even want him? he's done and he's trouble! There are still free agents available better than Belisario and they carry a lot less baggage.

I wonder if his past legal issues give him visa problems for working in canada? I think it is looking more like Sanchez will be the closer - and that could be interesting

If Sanchez were to take that role with enthusiasm, with his obvious talent and stuff he could become one of the greats...

But it would certainly hinder his earnings potential; he'd never have a chance to come close to a contract like Scherzer's or Kershaw's.

I wonder, how much could the Sandman command today if he were, say, 29 years old? And he, too, was converted from starter to reliever in his rookie year.

Interesting that Sanchez is just 2" taller than Mo and about the same weight.

Well Craig Kimbrel whose first 4 full years as a closer has been close to Rivera-esque is slated to make $13mln in his age 29 year in 2017. Mo peaked at $15mln at the tail end of his career cause the Yankees wanted him to stay a Yankee. Mo "only" actually made $4,2 mln in his age 29 season in 1999. Now that's inflation!

The Jays are making a new trade with the Colorado Rockies - the TBJs get LHP Jayson Aquino for LHP Tyler Ybarra. At least they're trying to tighten up their 'pen with a left-hander. I applaud that move.

Yup problems solved. Heard Beeston the other night, he sounds confident, but..........I'm not convinced! if they were to sign Shields, that would solve some of the pitching concerns, Aquino, I agree with Perry.

I think the team is going to miss the offence supplied by Adam Lind last year.
He was only half a player since he can only hit right handers; but, the half job he did do he did pretty well.

Lind was traded for a really bad pitcher; but, I heard he was a toxic presence in the locker room, trash talking the Blue Jays management and organization especially to younger rookie players.
I heard he was traded just to get his ass out of the room.
The team didn't want the younger players drinking in any Adam Lind kool aid.
