A woman leaving a man for another man is nothing unusual. I would say 95 percent of the time, there is another guy.

To the op, right now you only have 1 objective - getting out without being financially destroyed. You can deal with the emotional BS later.

My advice would be to get the ball rolling on a separation agreement as soon as possible and hopefully capitalise on any guilt she may have to your advantage. Good luck, the divorce laws in this country are insanely lopsided.

Divorce is one of those rare instances where you wish you had no net worth.

Sorry op. You are in for a long and painfully humiliating process. The justice system loves shafting men.

Unless of course, the kids are gone and she had double the salary of the OP!

Then she will pay the OP support. Play money!!

Yes because women always marry men who are poorer than them.
Actually there is plenty of them.

I know you are a sad little man with tons of anger and hostility towards all women, however if I am being honest, 75% of the married/common law couples I have personally known in my entire life, the women made more. And more by about 20-25%+. I am not trying to be cute, funny or even debate. It should not be shocking that I am a very independent woman who has always made my own money based on these women in my life being independent too. The thought of sharing or even depending on a man scares the shit out of. Most of my business here is made from women who are also independent ladies.

So while you may have experienced things to make you the sad man with all the hate, rage and anger towards woman, my experiences have led me to be a free woman independent of men or their wallets and clearly I am not the only one.

And just out of curiosity, does your T4 accurately reflect your gross income, or are you like 99.9 percent of the sex workers out there who work on a cash or largely cash basis?

That said, I grant you that spousal support can equally apply to women.

To me, there should be no such thing as spousal support. You divorce, you get nothing. Split the assets accumulated while married (if no prenup) and be done with it forever.

Problem is too many lawyers make too much money off of divorce.

1. I am not a sex worker and I don't believe that 99.9% lie on their taxes. Just like I don't believe that 99.9% of self employed workers or contractors lie. That is a pretty far fetched number.
2. what I claim on my taxes is my own business. However - I do claim FYI. There are so many tax breaks and write-offs not too.
3. Spousal support can and does get given to men. Including child custody. Even as far back as 20 years. My father did with my half brother and sister.
4. I agree that spousal support should not apply to dual working families. A parent who stays home with kids while the other works is a bit of a different story.
5. Lawyers make money for a reason. I don't know the law so I will pay someone who does. You can find cheap, just like SP's or you can pay big, just like SP's but you pay and not always for what you want. That is true.

1... I'm just pointing out the obvious. Women for the most part DO marry men with more assets. Its also usually the man footing the wedding bill and buying the ring. Any stats otherwise are too small currently to be of any significance. When women who out earn their spouses become 20% or more of the married population than what you say might make an iota of sense. Your just throwing insults. Something I've seen you do time and time again. Says more about you than me, dont you think?

2. Personal anecdotes mean nothing. I can bet you know more couples where the man out earns the woman than you do the kinds in the examples you pointed out. They are just so common that our brains ignore them and see them as the norm. I can safely say out of all my neighbors, there might be one or two household's where the woman is the primary breadwinner.

3. Woman can and do pay alimony/child support. But the percentage is pretty much insignificant. In the US I think its like 97% men to 3% women. These laws were designed to protect the woman when they were created.

Agreed.

I can go up and down my street and think of my friends and pretty much all the males out earn the females.

Only one guy on my street earns less than his wife - she's a doctor, he's a stay at home dad.

Of course, things could be emotionally worse. She could have left you for a women. I've seen this happen twice. Makes a person wonder.

One of my favorite scenes from The Odd Couple, Oscar the devourse.

Think I'll arrange a poker game soon, we'll play cards, drink bear and talk sports and escorts. Exclusively for separated guys. :D

My divorce years ago was LONGER than my marriage.

My wife left me for a colleague at work. My work, not hers. We used to have him over for dinner, because he was single and my wife felt sorry for him and wanted to give him a home cooked meal. Guess he decided on take out. At first, I wanted the hag to burn in Hell and I was devastated. Buy hey, they got each other. Guess I won.

ladies look out.

This is going to be epic
Sorry to hear dude it always hurts like a bitch.

Best thing to do is wish the both of them well. When you do that Karma will make sure to give you a new and better partner for you. It takes time, but in the future when you look back you will sed how it was a good thing.
Also dont get hung up on the material things. When we leave this world and all of us will we won't take a single thing.
However, if you lived life and enjoyed it, that you keep and it's priceless.

Sign on my front door, wife and dogs missing, reward for return of dogs. I couldn't have that if I was still married. But seriously, if I had stayed single, saw 2 escorts a week for the last 20+ years I would just be breaking even on what the divorce and support have cost me. Think about it you dumb young bucks. They will turn on you eventually. Mine said I wasn't home enough, I spent too much time working.
Well were you spending too much time working?

In reverse order

1). 97/3 is correct in Ontario as well.
2). This is true as well. I'd personally feel inadequate and a failure if I was not the breadwinner... Not sure the type of guy that is ok with this. Like have some pride in being a real man...I.e. That provides for the ones you love.
3). Every sociological book/ study shows this. So agree
I would have no problem being married where she is the bread winner. Then maybe I could be part of the 3% if something happened.
The laws screw over men at every turn.Guess women's lib only counts when it's to their advantage.
