Been a while for me. Why don't you call them and ask?

I seem to recall that some of their higher-cost items are AWOL... crab legs etc.

This. The lunch has fewer items like the crab legs and maybe even the prime rib. I'm not a fan of Mandarin.

Try Imperial Buffet instead.

Like any other buffet...don't expect crab legs, lobster & roast beef at lunch. But not into Mandarin. so over rated.

Actually I've only been to Imperial twice, both for dinner, however, my father likes to go there for lunch a lot.

dragon pearl at don mills and york mills, very upscale asian buffet imo. expensive on the weekends though ~30 a head. lobster is not all you can eat though they give you ticket per person for it, you get a tail and claw with that ticket.

The Imperial Buffet in Ajax is way better than the one in Scarborough. Tried both locations several times for both lunch and dinner. Scarborough location disappoints each time, Worse than Mandarin @ Birchmount.
I was at the Ajax Imperial Buffet for dinner this past weekend, the selection and quality didn't seem as good as it used to be in the past. The Mandarin near Wonderland at lunchtime on a weekday has a very good selection and quality of food.

There is a buffet place on north east side Markham road and Ellesmere. They seem to have more dishes that true asians prefer rather than the North American style food that Mandarin has. Only been there once for dinner. Smaller buffet than Mandarin but food is fresh and seems busy.

There is a sister restaurant of Dragon Pearl. At dinner time, Dragon Legend near Woodbine and Highway 7 is also very good. Mandarin is nothing compare to Dragon Pearl or Dragon Legend.

Having been there once and with all the restaurants in Toronto, I don't understand why anyone would choose to eat there.

Mandarin knows their clientele, they are busy for a reason. It is an insult almost for Chinese people to eat there however as the food is ....well.
