This thread is funny. Restaurants are all about personal tastes. It's like a style of music...you either like it or you don't.

I would recommend China Buffet King at Warden and 401 (although I haven't been in a while). I didn't like Mandarin nor Imperial Buffet when I ate there.
Actually, China Buffet King shut down quite a while ago, it's been replaced by a place called Jade Garden or Jade River or something like that. The place seems to be pretty busy with a largely asian clientele although I've not actually had a chance to eat there yet, place ahs always been packed when I tried to go. It's in the HoJo, one of the scariest hooker-hotels in the east end.....

I've been to Dragon Pearl @ Don Mills / York Mills a few times - definitely beats the Mandarin !

I like the Mandarin.

It's not fine dining, but what is.

The food is always fresh, hot, and there is variety. The place is always clean, even outside.

It may not be "authentic", but so what. You can go there for lunch for 18 bucks and eat quite well. A pack of 20 wings from Pizza Pizza will cost you more than Mandarin's buffet and at Mandarin, you could (if you wanted) eat wings till they came out of your ears.

When I do go to the Mandarin, I see lots of Asians and lots of seniors.
