More than 12 runs if that Mariner CF hadn't robbed us of at least 2 sure doubles. That guy runs like the wind.
He is an incredible defensive CF, but offensively his numbers are awful. He made a couple of running catches that were awesome.

Can the Jays play Seattle a few more times, until the Jays are at least 10 games over .500.

sportsnet says Jays are talking to San Diego re the bullpen. Player mentioned was the closer Bell. No indication who or what the Padres are looking for.

I'm all for the signing, but only if he runs onto the field and slides towards the mound every time he makes an appearance.

I'm not interested in signing a long-term deal with a 34 year-old closer who's K/9 numbers have dropped precipitously. This is the very definition of a market that is certain to decline.
I'm with you on the not signing him to a long term deal. He certainly would help while they devloped a closer but 2 or 3 years with a team option should make sense to the team, the player(PLAYER'S AGENT) may see it differently.

Jays likely have one of the top 3 minor league systems as far as pitching talent goes.

One of the high schoolers they took in 2010, Justin Nicolino, seems ready for A level ball
over in Lansing.

With Vancouver Canadians in the short season league Nicolino has an ERA of 1.32.
In 7 starts he has allowed 1 hit four times and 0 hits once, (last night).
Starters here are usually capped at 5 innings to build up arm strengh slowly over the years.

Damn! Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. The problem is that the games are too long. Should shorten it to 7 innings.

I don't understand the coaching sometimes...

With two outs and a runner at third, why was Patterson playing so shallow? The runner does not matter if you get the out, so the logic is to make sure that nothing gets over your head...and in this case, Patterson was playing shallow, got all turned around, couldn't catch up to the ball and it went over him. Game Over.

That ball was catchable, the defensive replacement misplayed it.
17 blown saves in 37 opportunities.

Jays need a closer ... a real closer.
17 blown saves, even if they salveged only nine of those that is 4 1/2 games and that puts them ahead of Tampa.

Yeah, I was thinking that with Jose there, the ball would've been caught. Maybe premature, but with Encarnacion suddenly playing decent defense, they can put Jose back at Right. Doubt it would happen though as I think they are trying to give more playing time to Snider and Thames. It'll be interesting in regards to playing time when they finally do call up Brett Lawrie...

Jays beat Rangers 3-zip in the final game. Should've won yesterday. They're playing well since the break and aren't that far away from the best AL teams.

Another excellent game from Bautista. He doesn't hit a homer but impacts the game in other ways. Hits a double to the wall to score the winning run. Makes a diving catch in short right during the shift. And rifles a few balls from third to first. What an arm. And what a joy to watch.

Cecil pitches a complete shutout gem. His fastball was clocking 91-94mph. Nice to see him back to his top form. Hopefully, this guy will be a top-3 rotation guy for years to come.

Jays have identified their future core in Bautista, Escobar, Romero and Lind. If Morrow and Cecil continue to improve, AA's gotta lock these two guys up.
