And now even a loss to lowly South Africa! The shameful self-humiliation is complete, aside from the months of sulking, ranting, finger-pointing, melodrama, pouting and tantrums that will surely follow when the team slinks back to its home country.Goodbye France, could not happen to a nicer team. What a meltdown of epic porportions.
They got what they deserved. However the French Football Federation should fall on the sword for this one. Why the hell was Domenech still in charge after the disgrace of Euro 2008? This team/Federation has not moved on from the 1998/2000 glory years. The team was too old, lacking in ideas and leadership. There are so many good young French players that should have been fully integrated into the team. Benzema, Nasri, Ben Arfa, Mexes, Frey etc. should have all been in this team. Gallas, Henry, Anelka, Abidal are all well past it. France, and Italy as well, should take a look at the balance between young and veteran players fielded by Germany (5 players that participated in Euro U21 last summer), Argentina (Aguero, Messi, Romero, Di Maria all 22 or under), and Chile, a lot of their players particiapted in World U20 in Canada a few years ago and I thought they were the best team, until Toronto cops and a bus got in their way. *insert smiley face*And now even a loss to lowly South Africa! The shameful self-humiliation is complete, aside from the months of sulking, ranting, finger-pointing, melodrama, pouting and tantrums that will surely follow when the team slinks back to its home country.
This line of thinking might come back to haunt the English?

French friends have told me that though Domenech is an idiot, his agent is not. He apparently has a ridiculously generous rescission clause in his contract that would make it really expensive to terminate the contract. Still, I have to believe that if the French Football authorities had any clue of how badly he would fuck up (though it was really not a surprise to any who've paid attention to the idiot in action), they'd have paid anything to be rid of him. They got what they deserved. However the French Football Federation should fall on the sword for this one. Why the hell was Domenech still in charge after the disgrace of Euro 2008?
I think he was much bigger goof in the game against Ivory Coast...if that's what you mean by goof. Ronaldo played well against the Koreans, especially in the second half. The guy never has less than two players on top of him, which creates space for others. As a counter attacking player, the guy's without peer. What's up with Ronaldo. I know he is a bit of a dancing diva, but I think his dribble show-offingness not only made him loose the ball a number of times against the C-List Koreans, he also looked a bit like a buffoon. Man oh man what a goof.
U.S. for scoring more goals in the group matchesOk, the USA and England both win by identical 1-0 scores. Who ends up top of the Group?
The US wins group C with two goals stolen from it (that off sides call this am was pure bullshit).England vs. Germany
USA vs. Ghana
Mexico vs. Argentina
Other results will come soon enough
