I do seem to becoming a fan more and more with every World Cup. I have to admit I have never sat and watched so much as I have this year.
This leads to some questions/suggestions I would like to put forth to the more knowledgeable soccer fans. Remember though I am a rookie fan, sort of speak, and my main goal(as always) is to get Canada more glory.

What do you think of this idea ?
I found out that Australia, which is located in the Oceanic region, competes for World Cup births via the Asia region. They just switched regions.
If a country can leave their 'home' region and go to another region(for whatever reason) to compete for WC births then I think Canada should go and join the Oceanic group for an easier path to WC tourney entries. Even if it is only for six or eight years. Enough to take two runs at a WC spot. It may inspire interest of soccer in Canada. Kids would see Canada(hopefully) at the WC and maybe would want to stay in soccer and play for Canada.
Now I do not know what is involved in switching regions, but I think if FIFA would like to grow the game in NA this would be a good way to do it.
Whether or not the above is a good idea, I think that FIFA's formula for countries gaining entry to the WC must be overhauled.
First I think the top ranked teams should get an automatic birth. #1-10.
The next group of countries ranked #11-20 should have to pass a series of preWC games just to make sure they are still top 20 teams.
The final 12 spots can be earned by teams that play in a preWC(for 32 or 40 countries, ranked #21 or lower) the year before the actual WC. Eight groups of four or five teams. Only the group winners advance and the winners also earn entry into the WC.
The last four(three when a country such as South Africa hosts) spots can go to countries win some preWC round robin games.
Canada is ranked 63rd.
New Zealand, the only Oceanic country to gain entry, is ranked 83rd.
North Korea is ranked 105th.
Another question I have is ...
Could Canada ever host a WC ?
I asked one of my soccer friends(he is a Scot) and he told me there are not enough stadiums in Canada.
Since a recent WC was co-hosted by Korea and Japan, why not allow Canada to host and USA to co-host ?
