Chris Christie calls Trump a ‘puppet of Putin’ after CNN town hall
“If you don’t say that you think Ukraine should win the war, I don’t know where you stand with Putin,” the former governor said.

The battle of Bakhmut must be going well for Zelensky to have had the time for
extracurricular events like visiting the Hague kangaroo court and appearing to
the Eurovision song contest that turned him down.
Now that you mention it… seems like it’s going better than ever! According to Proghozhian and the Russian Dmitri Peckeroff's ranting broadcasts Ukraine took every area around Bakhmut they attacked.

Sorry to ruin your day. 😜

I am surprised. In Russia, a nice, new, shiny, western toilet bowl is even more better than 3 bottles of Siberian vodka.

More sobering is each western toilet liberated to the Motherland cost about the lives of 5 young Russian men. (And 5 bushels of turnips if the government actually paid off the families)

The US has always maintained that the Abraham tank isn't ideal in Ukrainian hands due to the fuel and the high maintenance required. Also, I had read somewhere that the models sent had modifications to keep certain technology and protective armor out of the hands of the Russians. The ideal tanks which have arrived I'm going to assume are the German Leopard 2 and the British Challenger. The huge game changer in my opinion is the British long-range Storm Shadow cruise missile now being delivered.
All of the politicking he's doing have certainly paid off. They've gone from just getting warehoused and mothballed equipment and a bunch of anti-armour to getting cutting edge ballistic artillery, rocket artillery, cruise missiles, main battle tanks, etc.

Only a fool would believe they'd be getting all that if their president never left a CP or foxhole on the front line.

I watched the video because I found your summary to be surprising. Sure enough, the video paints a FAR less optimistic (closer to pessimistic) outlook on the reliability and feasibility of the tanks they are sending, and on their potential impact on the battlefield.

Well maybe the Ukes will get some of the latest Soviet hardware when the Russkies run away and leave their latest 1948 tanks behind? :ROFLMAO:

More "potential impact on the battlefield" than Leopards, Abrams etc? 😜

Is there a reason you think the President should be sitting in a foxhole doing soldier things instead of being off doing Presidential things? Leaders of nations are frequently traveling to give speeches and drum up support for treaties and agreements. Being at war doesn't change that his job is to lead the government, not plan military strategy or execute tactics.

The man's weapon is a microphone, not a rifle.

@oil&gas only sees through the lens of simple things, except for conspiracy theories.

But yeah, this is the real "frontline" that Zelenskyy is 'killing it' on!

Hell they could start sending in M60's and M48s, there are still plenty around used by other countries they should be fine against the 55, 62 and even decent vs the 72. Double plus so if they were upgraded.

UK supplies long-range Missiles to Kiev. Russia Increased 7-fold the Weapons production as the “Unmatched” Hypersonic Rockets
May 11, 2023

The UK has supplied a number of Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine, CNN has reported, citing senior Western officials. The missile is “a real game changer from a range perspective,” a senior US military official told CNN, commenting on the shipment, which the news channel reported on Thursday.

A previous report in The Washington Post said the delivery was looming.

The weapon was developed in the 1990s by the UK and France and is typically launched from the air. It can strike targets up to 300 kilometers (200 miles) away, which is comparable to the US-made ground-launched Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS).

Storm Shadow is an Anglo-French low-observable, long-range, air-launched cruise missile developed since 1994 by Matra and British Aerospace, and now manufactured by MBDA. Storm Shadow is the weapon’s British appellation. In French service, it is called SCALP-EG (which stands for “Système de Croisière Autonome à Longue Portée – Emploi Général“; English: “General Purpose Long-Range Cruise Missile”). The missile is based on the French-developed Apache anti-runway cruise missile. They differ in that the Storm Shadow carries a warhead instead of submunitions.

Therefore, NATO’s “proxy” war against Russia continues, which began in 2014 with the coup in Kiev when was planned by the Anglo-Saxon intelligence Five Eyes which involved the British embassy and Her Majesty’s MI6 counterintelligence. But Moscow is not being found unprepared…

«Despite the military support coming from the West, the enemy is suffering great losses.. Over the past month, the Armed Forces of Ukraine has lost over 15,000 troops. Russian units managed to destroy eight airplane, 277 unmanned aerial vehicles, 430 tanks and other armoured vehicles, 18 multiple-launch rocket systems, 225 field artillery cannons and mortars».

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said during the teleconference with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation leadership on May, 2, 2023.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, in an exclusive interview with BBC, has stated that Ukraine requires more time to launch a much-anticipated counteroffensive against Russian forces as its military awaits the delivery of promised military aid.

Speaking from his headquarters in Kyiv, Zelensky stated that combat brigades, which were trained by NATO countries, were “prepared” for the counteroffensive.

However, he acknowledged that there were still gaps in the army’s capabilities, such as the need for armored vehicles, which were “being delivered in stages.”

In total, 420 airplanes and 230 helicopters, 4,062 unmanned aerial vehicles, 421 air defence missile systems, 9,067 tanks and other armoured combat vehicles, 1,098 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 4,780 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 10,103 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the Russian special military operation.

«The Russian groups of forces depend to a great extend on timely replenishment of military hardware and armament. Russia’s leadership has set the task for the defence industry enterprises to boost the production pace and volume. The necessary measures have already been taken» Shoigu explained.

«Consequently, compared to the start of 2022, the quantity of significant weapons acquired has increased 2.7-fold, and the quantity of particularly highly demanded weapons has increased 7-fold» Russian Defence Minister added.

«It is equally vital to increase the capacity of repair and restoration facilities. At present, the number of weapons repaired each day exceeds the number of weapons out of service by a ratio of three to two. The number of malfunctioning vehicles that need to be fixed has been reduced by a factor of 1.5 as a result of organisational initiatives».

Onte of the other topics discussed during the teleconference has been the execution of a state defence order by the Tactical Missiles Corporation.

«The enterprise provides the special military operation zone with a large number of air- and sea-based weaponry, many of which are unmatched. The Corporation has entered serial production for several of the newest weapon types after quickly completing all development stages. Existing, updated, and new designs are still being developed» Shoigu pointed out.

«The enterprise completes the state defence order on time. It is now necessary to boost high-precision weaponproduction as soon as possible» concluded.

US approves first transfer of seized Russian funds to Ukraine
10 May 2023

United States Attorney General Merrick Garland has authorised the first transfer of funds seized from Russian oligarchs to aid Ukraine.

In a statement on Wednesday, Garland said the money seized from Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeyev will go towards the war-torn country, which Russia invaded on February 24, 2022.

“While this represents the United States’ first transfer of forfeited Russian funds for the rebuilding of Ukraine,” Garland said, “it will not be the last.”

Last year, the US Department of Justice charged Malofeyev with violating sanctions imposed on Russia. Prosecutors said he provided financing for Russians promoting separatism in Crimea, a peninsula the country annexed from Ukraine in 2014.

At that time, Garland also announced “the seizure of millions of dollars from an account at a US financial institution traceable to Malofeyev’s sanctions violations”.

Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Garland announced a new task force, dubbed KleptoCapture, that specifically targeted Russian oligarchs who sought to evade the deluge of US sanctions imposed against Russian entities.

“We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to investigate, arrest and prosecute those whose criminal acts enable the Russian government to continue this unjust war,” Garland said at the time.

Among the assets seized by Washington was a fleet of superyachts, including a 106m (348-foot) vessel owned by Suleiman Kerimov valued at over $300m, which had been docked in Fiji.

US President Joe Biden, meanwhile, called on Congress last year to make it easier to transfer seized oligarch assets to Ukraine.

In December, Congress passed a law that allowed certain assets seized by the Justice Department to be funneled to Ukraine via the US Department of State.

In April, the Justice Department asked Congress to expand the assets that can be sent to Ukraine, particularly funds seized for violating export controls.

At the time, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said Washington was “leaving a lot of money on the table”.
