Trump's baseless claims of election fraud undermine US credibility overseas:
Trump's baseless claims of election fraud undermine US credibility overseas:
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the United States Embassy to Ivory Coast issued a statement calling on leaders in the West African nation to "show commitment to the democratic process and the rule of law."
It was the kind of boilerplate proclamation that US diplomats issue all the time regarding elections around the world, particularly those parts of it where democracy is not completely secure. But it was undermined somewhat by comments from the US President just hours earlier.
In a news conference a few hours after midnight at the White House, Donald Trump had railed against his rival, Joe Biden, saying that "all voting must stop" and baselessly accusing the Democrats of fraud. He continued to hit these points on Twitter, leading the social media platform to label several of his posts as "disputed" or "misleading."
Chaotic debates and a ugly campaign had already marred the standing of the US democratic system overseas this year, but the sight of the American leader openly seeking to delegitimize the vote was still a shock for many. Trump's comments were greeted with horror in many countries, and some glee in others, where critics of the US have long accused Washington of hypocrisy regarding democratic rights.
Speaking Wednesday, German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer said the US faced a "very explosive situation" and a possible crisis, telling public broadcaster ZDF that "this election has not been decided ... votes are still being counted (but) the battle over the legitimacy of the result, however it turns out, has begun."
In the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Boris Johnson refused to comment on the election, though former foreign minister and Conservative Party lawmaker Jeremy Hunt told the BBC a "huge argument about process" would "put a smile on the face of people like President Putin and President Xi who will look at their own people and say, 'Are you not pleased we have not got any of this mess?' and that would be an absolute disaster."
"We must remember that the reputation of democracy across the world is at stake here," Hunt added.

For years, the US has held itself up as an arbiter of sorts for the democratic process around the world, sending monitors to polls, propping up democratic opposition and criticizing countries for rigging or undermining elections.
Just this week, the US State Department condemned China's ongoing crackdown on democratic freedoms in the semi-autonomous city of Hong Kong. In Belarus -- a close ally of Moscow -- the US no longer recognizes Alexander Lukashenko as the "legitimately elected leader," after hotly contested elections in the former Soviet state.
This sense of moral authority is now likely to be called into question in some parts of the world.
After Tuesday's vote, Russian state-run broadcaster RT described the US as "battered and divided," while a number of its columnists highlighted the potential chaos that could be unleashed by Trump's comments, with one writing that "the affair paints a grim picture for American democracy."
In China, alleged flaws in American democracy have long been used to prop up Beijing's own authoritarian model, and the confusion and concern over Tuesday's voting is no different.
While Chinese diplomats and official government mouthpieces have stayed largely quiet on the results and ongoing contest, state-backed media was quick to highlight the discrepancy between Washington's long-held position as the standard-bearer of international democracy and Trump's own comments.
The Global Times, a nationalist state-owned tabloid, published a piece Wednesday noting that "deep-seated divisions in US contradict democratic values."
"Democracy is exercised in a civilized and graceful manner. The one who loses in elections is supposed to stay cool, accept the result, and call for bridging differences to move the country forward. But it seems that this does not exist in the US nowadays," writer Wang Wenwen added.
Meanwhile, the Beijing News, a Communist Party-controlled paper, said that "no matter who wins the 2020 election, American society will not be able to return to the state it used to be in," having been "torn apart" by the recent contest and Trump's time in office.

Just watched a news conference with the Clark County (NV) Registrar. Apart from the large volume of ballots yet to be counted, there are many other issues, including: 1) whether provisional ballots are duplicated in different counties, 2) whether ballots that require mandatory id have it, c) residency requirements. They have until Nov 12 to complete their count. It's going to take until November 12. It also wasn't confidence inspiring that he had to correct incorrect information about the number of provisional ballots that had been posted on their website.

The Trump campaign is starting to flail...it's like pulling your goalie and then calling a stick measurement.
Didn't the Montreal Canadiens win a Stanley Cup over the LA Kings by doing exactly that?

Each state has their own way of doing things and don't count votes in the same way. If the US wants faster or more accurate results then they need to standardize the process including when they can start and finish vote counting. As I said before, there's no will to do it because each state is entrenched in their own way of doing things. Attempting to change it will just be met with cries of big government interfering with states rights. Since Americans want a fragmented system then they can't complain that the results are coming in that way.
Some people prefer a fragmented Federalist approach and others prefer a centralized approach. It has nothing to do with fears of socialism as you originally posted.

What you might be missing is that everything happening demonstrates government incompetence.

Maybe not wanting the federal government interfering in the state's election process is a better way of saying it. I do feel that the default response to about just about any issue in the US is about socialism though.

The differing preferences are causing huge conflicts. There has seemingly never been any desire to address those conflicts. They chose fragmented systems and so choose to have fragmented results. There should be no reason at all to complain about it. If they want more efficient, transparent, etc systems then they all have to compromise and make changes. They can't continue to keep doing the same thing and expect different results.

Government is definitely incompetent and that applies universally. There's no one government that can claim superiority of the other's. They pick systems that works for them because they have the right to do it.

Some of the allegations of fraud include ballots being taken in by coolers and wagons with very little security in the very early morning.
Boarding up windows of where counting take place; removing transparency.
Absentee ballots appearing to cast by people who are dead.
I'm running out of snacks 🍿 and the riots and/or civil war hasn't even started.

I agree with Fox, slightly restated. It would be more effective to provide specific examples of election irregularities (rather than evidence), instead of just describing broad categories that many Americans might not understand.
'

''Go ahead and fact check this!
Fairfax Virginia switched 100,000 votes from Trump to Biden citing a clerical error.
Wisconsin suddenly discovered over 112K ballots between 3:30 AM and 4:30 AM
Nevada has decided they will not have all the vote counts in until Thursday
Michigan gained 138339 for Biden since they stopped counting last night and a whopping zero for Trump
6 States that Trump has sizeable leads all decided to stop counting ballots on election night (unheard of) and they all have blue strongholds.
Jack from Twitter deletes the current sitting president’s tweet on election night.
Lee Jone, running for district 16 Senate in Idaho gets his account deleted from Facebook not once but twice
The law of ballot observation has been broken, Republican supporters were forced to observe from 100 feet away and told to use binoculars or watch on a computer screen where it’s impossible to see any details.
Two items I have not confirmed yet;
Nevada ballots have been cast for dead people and people who know longer live there.
Pipe mysteriously burst in Georgia ballot room causing immediate evacuation

We cannot support election fraud of this magnitude regardless of which side of the political spectrum we sit on because what we observe happening in the United States will be happening here soon enough!''

Just a quote from a social media post. Most of it has been reported in the last 24 hours from various sources not being MSM.

I'm sure the Republicans were up to their shenanigan's as well.
I'm sure shenanigan's played a part...

Trump should demand a recount and a fraud investigation. Wisconsin votes came out of nowhere.

It's simply because some states count the mail-in votes last which have been running 2/3 Biden . It has resulted in large overnight gains for the Dems. Sorry no fraud. But now you know why Trump wants to stop counting.

5. The unnecessary lies/distortions about how "normal" everything is during this election. It is NOT normal for mail in ballots to be so substantial that anyone could think that they could upend a 700,000 vote lead. The normal insignificance of mail in balloting is why they've never received much scrutiny in the past, and why they don't impede calling state victories on election night, not because there was never anything to question. There is nothing normal about this election. Further, I did not and do not buy the move to expanded mail in balloting based on public health grounds. The perception of fair and reliable election results is more socially important than the miniscule public health risks of people voting in person voting with masks on.

Why are you purposely trying to be disingenuous? Your right, there is nothing normal about this election, that's because we're in the middle of a fucking pandemic. Did you conveniently forget that or something?

Over 3 million mail-in Ballots were cast in Pennsylvania. This is a fact not bullshit;
The democratic strongholds in the state are in the highly urbanized areas of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, democrats simply choose to vote by mail in large numbers rather than congregate together to vote. They're taking precautions, it's called not being stupid.
It's well known that democrats have always viewed covid more seriously than republicans;
Meanwhile republican voters were following the sage (quack) advise of their messiah Trump to not vote by mail. Obviously the end result is going to be that most of those absentee ballots are going to be highly skewed towards Biden. A 700,000 lead is not significant when you consider 3+ million absentee ballots and how much those mail-in ballots are skewed towards democrats.

As for why the counting is taking so long? You can thank the Republican held state legislature for blocking democrat requests to changing the rules which would have allow early votes and mail-in ballots to be pre-processed instead of after election day;

So stop the bullshitting already.

Could you cite a source? In the states that waited to count mail-in votes, I believe that was always the convention. Perhaps they should have anticipated a time crunch, but I'm not sure they voted down changes or refused to do something.
Pennsylvania's republican legislature prohibited the opening of ballots until 7:00 a.m. on Election Day. NJ on the other hand allowed early counting.

After watching the stress of the election, it's hugely entertaining to come here and watch the alt-right desperately making all sorts of tin-foil hat claims, hoping there's a hint of truth in them.
