Someone Please Wake Up Melnyk From His Dogmatic Slumber!!!

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=264894&lid=sublink03&lpos=headlines_nhl

"This has not been the season we had all hoped to have," Melnyk stated. "We had great high expectations but it's not over 'til it's over....

"We know what we have to do - we've got to win 26-27 games with 37 games (remaining) - I think that's what the number is, 37 games left. Can it be done? Yes, absolutely," said Melnyk. "If we get on a roll it can be done....."

Well Mr. Melnyk, good thing you have high expectations, but bad thing you still have Murray and his crony head coach at the helm. Have enough foresight and it won't hurt that much in hindsight, Mr. 'no bomb in hand' Melnyk!!! To win 70% or more of the remainder games is not difficult for the 'mighty' Senators but not at their current impotent state. Stop daydreaming and start overhauling, perhaps then there is some hope.

Another crappy Eastern team. This one's even bad by EASTERN standards.
The West is laughing at this conference ...
Melnyk does not think so. Oh yes he is still dreaming the Senators being mighty!!! LOL!!! On the other hand, the West will not be laughing if Teams like Boston or Montreal takes the Cup this year.

There is definately something wrong in that dressing room
They have so many talented players & are just couple years removed from the cup finals.
If they finish poorly,(ie out of the playoffs) blow them up

No they won't.
The Leafs still have another 10 game losing streak in them this year.
They will miss the playoffs but the Sens will play 50/50 hockey from here on out.
Crap am I channeling Pierre Maguire again?;)

Ottawa is averaging more points per game in the standings than Toronto.

I don't agree with this statement... in the West you have San Jose and Detroit that are a notch above, in the East Boston is that step ahead... most of the Western dominance has been delivered against the South East division...

While San Jose is 5-0 vs. the Atlantic two of those games were OT and Shootout wins against the Flyers at the start of the season...remember the Flyers started out with 6 losses.

If you remove the South East division, the Eastern conferance has faired very well against the West.

Yes something wrong indeed when players and GM/head coach were/are bad mouthing each other. LOL!!! To add insult to injury, the 'mighty' Senators were beaten today 0 to 1. Melnyk better figure out quick how he is going to win 26-27 games out of 37, with or without that sissy Murray and his crony head coach.

When Melnyk fires Murray and Hartsberg (probably the day after the regular season ends) he'll ask to Emery to come back

That will be like trading away two problems for another poison. Don't see how that is good for the 'mighty' Senators, unless if Melnyk wants his team to be the doormat of the Eastern Conference. ;)

To elaborate, here is what 'no bomb in hand' Melnyk said on 1/28/2008:

"Anybody that says we should blow up this organization should get their own bomb and go blow themselves up," Melnyk said at a press conference on Wednesday. "This is not an organization that is completely crippled. It needs fine tuning, it needs some tweaking, it needs a player here, a player there, a few good bounces and that's it. But we are nowhere near that type of environment."

Apparently now Mr. Melnyk decides he has a bomb for the crony head coach.

Wonder how long one has to wait for Melnyk to bomb that sissy GM Murray.

Senators call a press conferene to fire their coach ....

OTTAWA – It looks like the Ottawa Senators will be making another coaching change.

The team has called a morning news conference amid reports that Craig Hartsburg has been fired. The Ottawa Sun is reporting that Cory Clouston will move up from the Sens farm club in Binghamton to take over the job.
Using a minor league coach for major league effort is like putting a band-aid over a huge wound. It signals a temporary fix, a wait and see attitude, perhaps for Melnyk to evaluate how to blow up his team should the Senators fall short of playoffs.

It is clearer and clearer by the day that the 'mighty' Senators are mighty no longer. Melnyk will have to eat his own word per what he said here:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=2648...=headlines_nhl

So one bomb to blow up Murray and a bigger bomb to blow up the team.

Geezzz...the 'mighty' Senators are mighty again!!! They down the mediocre Sabres 3 to 2 in SO. The energy-less Sabres deserve to lose by playing clueless hockey in the first two periods. Is it because they played three games in four nights or because Tiffany_69 sucked the life out of them??? LOL!!!

Young goaltender Elliott certainly is no idiot. He made a lot of good saves for the Senators, part of the reason why the Senators won this time.

too late?

5-1-1 under Cluston.

They are beginning to look like they are who we thought they were ........ but is it too late? Gotta say with the most ridiculous scoring system of any pro league anywhere, the NHL makes it almost impossible for a team to mount a comeback.

IMO this turn around started with the elivation of Elliot to the goaltending position... He's 7-2-2 since being brought up on January 10. Auld is 2-2-0 in the same period of time, having won the last two since Clouston came on board. Bottom line is they are getting better goaltending qnd they are scoring more.

Given they are 12 points back but have two games at hand, they could make a run but it will certainly be tough.
