In Canada, anyone who admits to drunk driving is admitting to criminal behaviour.
A propos of Ford: He admitted to being drunk and disorderly in the stadium long after his 'no contest' plea to the DUI charges, so he clearly still had character-work to do around alcohol, and more importantly, on self-control. Like when his wife called the cops on him.
Mel was a better clown, and non-violent. Rob's a simple-minded figurehead for simple-minded people.

Hard to disagree that Ford doesn't come across as simple minded sometimes but that just underscores how fed up people are with the current administration and what they perceive are a slew of unsatisfactory candidates. Most people are also probably really fed up with pompous windbags talking dow to them and calling them simple-minded.
I am not asking Ford for a drive home nor a joint if i wanted one. I am asking him to clean out the old windbags at city hall and get things moving along. If they dont help to streamline the business of the city then they will be rooted out in the next election if not sooner. I could care less what he does in his spare time i only ask that he does as he says that he will and he can be my mayor anyday.
Clearly some simple-minded folks are willing to settle for a Mayor convicted as a crook and an out of control blowhard. Why they imagine that's positive for the city, or anything the rest of us should want is beggars comprehension.

Unfortunatly for the people of toronto the professional politicians have screwed things up so badly that the voters were going to make somebody pay, and the target this month is the left wing politician. Apparantly well done with a twist of mean.
Maybe he'll clean out city hall, but someone who disrespects the integrity office and its rules so much will probably fill it with cronies and families.
Gimme a f**kin' break. The right-wing tried using that against Clinton. He "disrespected the office". I can care less as long as he's doing his job. Churchill was a drunk. A lot of "great" leaders had done dubious thing in office and had dubious pasts.
I didn't bother reading all your hysterics but I was laughing at your bleating about all of Ford's horrendous sins and not specifically trying to support drunk driving.

Increase revenue, reduce expenses. The problem is if anyone has the balls to do what they have to do????
Cops patroling our schools? I don't really think that is necessary. I would rather see regular patrols of police doing their job, rather than writing parking
tickets or speeding tickets.
I can understand why he might be against cycling. Why reduce lanes to put in bike lanes, when most people only bike for about 6 - 7 months of the year.
I dont' know him personally, so I dont' know if he is a violent angry man. I dont' know that he is the right man for the job as Mayor, but I do believe that he is the best candidate running.

I think so too. Even tho he is a dumb-ass that's been living on the public dime for too long. he knows how to milk the vote. he appeals to the common man/woman. very common.
Fuji, I don't get you. You seem like an intelligent person, yet you ignore the obvious. I think that Ford is a bit of a buffoon, that seems to have his heart in the right place.
Lying???? Geez man, they are politicians. If anything, it should be refreshing to you to see a guy who is not so polished at twisting the truth. If anything, Ford seems like a bad liar, because he seems to get caught.

Getting Arrested??? The conflict avoiders, and pacifist will probably never come close to getting arrested. If you stand up for what you believe in, you are likely to get into some conflict.
The fact that you have never been arrested, is not a measuring stick of how good of a person you are, it might be more of a measuring stick of how good you are at hiding your crime.

The problem we have in Toronto is that we have the choice of The Weasel vs. The Buffoon. Unfortunately, I have to say that I would vote for the buffoon.

I don't know that Rob Ford is going to be the guy that cleans up city hall in Toronto. I am sure that none of the other candidates have a hope in hell of
getting the job done.
In your scenario, we have the admitted drug addict (formerly out of control drug addict) vs. the unproven or not yet admitted drug addict/alcoholic.
You don't know what you're talking about. Ford has done more to bring integrity to the position of councillor more than any other. His relentless attacks on foolish spending and councillor perks has led to a complete rewriting of the code of conduct with respect to expense submission for all City employees and also making them of public record. That is what is called clarity.
Lest we forget councillors are there to represent their ward first. Ford does that, and does it well judging by his victory margin in every election.
He is a serial liar. On three separate issues he has directly and outright blatantly lied until he was confronted with the truth. He has no integrity whatsoever in this regard.
How about his view that homosexuality is unnatural?
Have you ever been arrested or charged with a crime? Have you ever been convicted of a crime? None of the people that I associate with ever have been.
