exactly

For ever action, there is a reaction
The septs to the left by the democrat's resulted in Trump being able to gain control of the republicans

That rubs both ways & I am afraid the ultimate reaction of the left because of Trump will be more steps to the left towards crazyvillie
Sure LaRue, it is the leftists that live in Crazyville. Where do the Trumpists live? Camp Auschwitz ?

His act has made him a pariah along with the Lincoln Project grifters. He won't get another kick at tge can.
But he was right. trump was bad for the party. He lost them the senate with his BS, which was what Kasich was saying all along.

Starting January 21st, the rebuilding of the GOP will begin. It will start with getting rid of the old Trump gang.

The rebuilt GOP will one day (maybe as early as 2024) own the Presidency, the Senate, the House and the majority of the governorships.
Their chance of taking back the presidency in 2024 went from almost sure thing to very much at risk when dems took the Senate.
As for getting rid of the Trump gang, I don't see that happening. Politicians will use whatever tools at their disposal to gain and keep power. The Trump gang know how to manipulate people's pride and faith, both powerful motivators.
What happened a few days ago will hurt them. Cause some to break free of that manipulation. But not most.

Its not like its a big revelation. Anyway Kasich is not going to run again. I doubt he wiukd get the backers. Follow the money. Who can get donors. That will tell you who is running.

A few Senators will try again. Rubio maybe. And no doubt a few second term Governors. Wildcard will be a billionaire.

I know you did...
Then you know I'm right but are trying to be dismissive. The email leak of the DNC in 2016 proved what they are capable of. The reports now are of interference with the Iowa reporting.
To not acknowledge this is to turn perpetuate the power of donors over voters.

And hasten the demise of the party.

The genesis of January 6, 2021 was actually about 20 years ago. It didn't just happen. It's been brewing for about 20 years. Think root causes. Cause and effect.

Jeb Bush might come back. The Bushs have a power base in Florida and Texas. If Bush runs then they will need someone from the north or west on the ticket.

Ok...whatever...back to rebuilding the GOP...Trump has had such a bad effect that they are going to have to cleanse the party from Trumpism...a lot of those Republicans need to rebuild their reputation for 2022, that's not far enough away for people to forget...they need to get rid of all the Trump smell.

Not a chance. The donors gave him 100 million in 2016 and he squandered it. He doesn't have the charisma.

The GOP is a living organism (orgasm?) and will do whatever it takes to survive and prosper. At last count the Dems have a slight majority in the House and the Senate is a virtual tie.

They will try to seperate the extremist element out but keep the majority as they are passionate primary voters and prolific donors. So the populust message isn't going anywhere.

They won't worry over the WH yet. The fundraising for 2022 starts on Jan 21st. I will take a break and look at who is up in what state in the fall for the Senate. The House and its 11 seats will depend on the economic recovery and vaccine roll out.

Trumpists are not the ones currently in power, so not to worry too much about them, now is there?

Do you deny that each action precipitates a reaction?
Do you deny the left and right have both moved further and further away from more central and compromising positions?
Do you deny politics has become far more polarized in your lifetime?

I disagree, there will be no remnants of Trump and his people in politics.

Irrelevant to the question about pollical polarization
however Trump did not win according to the election results and the judges

Do you think the left should move further away from the center because Trumps was such a bad act ?

I seriously doubt it. Trumpism pretty much owns the GOP and will dominate for the foreseeable future, thank the GOP for that. They thought they could control and use Trump but he's taken over.

The longer that "Trumpism" exists will only mean that the Democrats will enjoy taking on the Republicans in the various elections. A sizeable number of Republicans hate Trump and what he stood for. They will either not vote or support the Democrats. That is why Moscow Mitch, Cruz, Graham and the rest of the Republicans now prefer distancing themselves from Trump and his baggage!!
