Yes Spock's betrothed named Kirk her 'champion' so Kirk had to fight the "in rutting season" crazy Spock. So the Vulcan SP's would be forcing their "rutting season" clients to fight with those pointed giant cotton swabs. Replete w Star Trek fight music.

With more observation I know think Col Hogan is as big or bigger a horn dog as Kirk.
Both would drop everything for some tang.

Not so much a random thought but a random tidbit. Did you know that zebras are not white with black stripes? They are black with white stripes. If you thought the former, you will never look at a zebra the same way again!
