Canadians are going to hear a lot of anti-American rhetoric. Carney is out there trying to tell you he'll save you from Trump. Then the new Prime Minister is going to fly down to Washington and cut a deal. Yes, it will be NAFTA 3.0. I also think there should be zero tariffs between Canada and the U.S. It would be better for Canadians.

The first North American Free Trade Agreement was 2,000 pages long. Many of us knew the absurdity of a so-called free trade agreement having bounded books.

Isn't it the US that is overspending, running chronic trade deficits and using borrowing and their printing press to fund their lifestyle? Canada puts trust in the US dollar to accept the goods we are selling, especially oil. With these moves, the US risks accelerating their decline as the preferred reserve currency.

Imagine if we have to start insisting on getting paid in Euros for the oil we sell to the US due to the instability these nincompoops are bringing.

The rhetoric on annexing Canada, Greenland and taking back control of the Panama Canal should not be ignored.
The tariffs imposed on Canada are just a subset of the annexation goal.
Trump sees Canada as a weak federation of provinces that increasingly challenge the authority of an anemic federal government, a nation that he is successfully exploiting.
Trump will find other ways to circumvent the House, Senate and Congress to achieve his goals such as declaring false emergencies at the Canada border due to Fentanyl or immigration as Trump behaves in a totalitarian manner as much as he can.
Trump will likely get more meaningless impeachments as he enacts his “ Mein Kempf” with Musk.

Trudeau announced his resignation on January 6, 2025, two weeks before Trump's second inauguration. The two had private conversations at Mar-a-Lago between Trump's re-election and Trudeau's resignation. Do the math.

Like Trump, Justin is not a 'self made man', unless you're referring to Justin's sex life since his wife left him. He could have lived very comfortably on a drama teacher's salary and his trust fund.

Interesting take. I don't think Carney is nearly as handsome as Trudeau but he does have that self-assured, patrician look that might give some confidence. While I don't go for the mocking of politician's appearances like the peanut gallery, Poilievre does not have the patrician look.
